  1. I found the exact same thing, it was quicker to download than the verification!
  2. http://kotaku.com/5902280/what-the-hell-these-game-developers-did-with-your-kickstarter-money Interesting article (well if you can call it that, better to read the blog post from the company) about how expensive all these 'extras' can be and how they ate into the production funds. I've gone in at the bottom end, cheap-as-chips but showing my support
  3. Hi Guys, My name's Shane and I live in London. I've always tried to play the old XCom games but couldn't quite get past the awful menus and gfx (I'm a GFX whore) so with the spate of remakes I'm very happy. I saw this game on the Kotaku website and thought I would like to help finish the game so I chucked my money in. I'm stumbling through the game at the moment but I certainly hope to have an epiphany sometime soon and 'get' turn-based shooters
  4. That's all I took away from that and thought it was a fucking amazing idea. I'd love to play as a Rainbow Six type CT team tasked with 'neutralising' terrorist events. From the 60s onwards with kidnappings and airliner hijacks through to fictional and staged events. The only problem would be designing the levels to accomodate multiple approaches. Otherwise you might tire of having to use a set-piece tactic over and over again. Oh and the other problem would be the PC (political correctness) crowd (Daily Mail readers) who would shit all over it saying you could let innocents die... Oh well it was a nice dream while it lasted. On topic: Underwater fights would be shit, slower paced than on land and I can only think of turning the green aircombat overlay blue and letting you have ship-to-ship fights underwater. Of course you could always shoot them down over the water, ask James Cameron for his sub and go down there and loot the fuck out of it
  5. I really wouldn't agree with the OP, not based on any validity of argument but on the principle that I wouldn't be any good at that game-mode. How selfish eh? Plus IIRC in Fallout when they let you do it realtime the accuracy just dropped off the graph and you couldn't hit shit...
  6. I think this bullseye/radius overlay would be a great idea. As others have said, if it's not in your LOS or out of the fog you can't see if you can move there. Take a leap of faith, and hopefully not a plasma round in the face
  7. I haven't read anything back in the admittedly very few pages before; but for me and those on this forum I don't think it really matters if the game is release before or after. I mean, I've already bought this game... and I agree with Chris, it should be 'released' when it's finished. I don't want the game to drag on endlessly with it being forever Alpha/Beta and that being used as a crutch, even though the game is pretty well sorted by now, a few extra maps would help (I've not modded my game yet) but this thing doesn't crash any more or less than a modern AAA title (zing!)
  8. Well while I'm glad there is a manual, I'll be buggered if I read it. I'll carry on like a 'man' and just fumble my way through it. If anything I'm roleplaying the organisation when faced with something completely unheard of, by royally screwing everything up. Basically I didn't know I could buy dropships or F17s until I had four bases full of MiGs
  9. Great news, I've not been with the game for a version release so will save games work? Otherwise I don't mind restarting, I'll probably do a better job this time
  10. This has happened to me today, both with a corvette crash site but also with a scout. I spend all that time getting the Chinook there and then it just says +8 or whatever and no soldier development, no alloy which is my moneymaker
  11. This has happened to me at end of turns 1-5 of different crash sites. Normally if I'm through that far it wont crash on me. I normally have 4 squad members and one scout vehicle in the chinook. Can't really describe it any more but it happens to me too.
  12. I'll go back and check whats going on... I've a sneaking suspicion that there's nobody on the actual dropship.... hmmm
  13. Hi, I have a Chinook coming in from the USA to a crash site in Africa (crash site 14) When the Chinook lands it goes to the loading screen and then crashes to desktop. I have sent the USA Chinook back to base and the game is fine. I have sent a DIFFERENT Chinook to a DIFFERENT crash site and the game is fine. I have not (yet) sent a different dropship to crash site 14. I now have two savegames, one where I have raided crash site 15 and one where I have not. I do have a lot of aircraft airborn in defensive patrols of the dropships.
