3rd base

Do you guys build a 3rd base? I seem to lose Indochina around Dec/Jan with my main base in North Africa and 2nd base in Central America. The upkeep costs for a 3rd base seems really hard to manage.

I got to third base a few years ago...

on a more serious note, I tend to do ok wth two bases, don't really need three to finish the game at the moment

1st base north africa

2nd base central/north america around halfway through the first month.

3rd base New Guinea/Indonesia about a week or so into month 2.

I outstrip incoming money very fast, but haven't had a problem making up for it by selling UFO leftovers.

I've found it difficult to support even two bases even though the second is mostly just an airbase/radar installation. And that's with going to EVERY crash which gets quite tedious later in the game. However, that was under 18.3 maybe it's easier in the experimental builds.
