endersblade
First and foremost, both of the map packs in the map section. They really expand the game quite a bit.
skaianDestiny
Jsleezy's Real Armors mod. Replaces the vanilla inventory sprites for the armors with awesome ones. Skitso's Oppressive UI if you want a good dark mood for your X-com experience. Max_Caine's Lore+ mod adds a great deal of fluff and some guides on identifying xenos. A must have. Get Xenonauts: Community Edition if you haven't already. Many mods use it and it has a some little features such as speed toggles in air combat, a memorial screen, vaultable windows, and more. Kabill's mods are always good to have. Bit of shameless self-promotion but you should also check out my mods below. Like Endersblade said Kabill's Random Map pack and Skitso's Megamix map pack are necessary to improve the small map pool of the vanilla game. kabill
One of things i’d like to focus on is the repetitiveness of the ground combat With this in mind, I'm going to plug my Dynamic UFOs mod. While it does other things, one of the consequences of the mod is a bit more varied crew loadouts resulting from a wider variety and more diversified crew lists, semi-random alien crew numbers, and more use/earlier use of the specialist alien types (Harridans and especially Wraiths). Also, special mission types (Terror, Base Attack Alien Bases) are somewhat more common and more difficult to block all the time with air control. It's also actually probably slightly harder than vanilla overall, though (but I've not played vanilla in a very long time, so am not sure exactly). blackwolf
as everyone stated, you should mandatory try the kabill and skitso map packs (i cannot play without them...im serious ). The rest are mostly spices to flavour up your xcom..so you should look at them and see if they fits your personal tastes. After you enjoy your vainilla experience, and if you are looking for a mod that give you a challenge, you could check XNT into darkness, new aliens, new weapons, new tecnology, a new experience, for now i invite you to enjoy the game and hope you like all the work made by all the modders community . Good luck compadre :)b.
