Uxion
I had my planes destroy the flying UFOs overland but they don't seem to make aw crash site at all. Edit: I guess only the scout ships don't make crash sites Edited March 4, 2012 by Uxion
NoIdidnt
scouts leave crash sites. you must be destroying them. use 2 f17s and only 3 missiles, this will crash a scout. fighters never leave crash sites. zoom in on the battle so you can see whats going on. Uxion
I've been using the MiG with its 2 sidewinders and an avalanche since that is the only plane fast enough to catch the scout. Also the one ship that did show a crash site in my current game is a corvette. There was only one alien and no ship. I guess that is another bug? NoIdidnt
the avalanch alone is enough to destroy a scout. keep trying with 2 f17s,...oh.. if its in the actual battle where they cant catch the ufo just turn on your afterburners. never had a scout outrun a f17 in battle with the afterburners on. a scout shouldnt run from 2 f17s anyway. radister
In other words Uxion: your blowing them up in the air when you defeat a UFO you have two outcomes; crash land: lets you have a crash site mission destroyed: there nothing left to investigate cause you blew it up. that's why you should use weaker missiles on the scout also if you see them running away all the time, just take in less units. I find one MiG and one f17 should make every scout charge at you.
Uxion
I'll just make a separate thread for the missing aliens and corvette on the crash site.

Uxion
So turns out 3 light missiles were too much. 2 light missiles and a autogun is good though. Just saying for prosperity.
Uxion
Yeah that thing was in the battle map. It is normal for that thing to be directly in front of the chopper right? Not to mention that when I aborted the mission all my troops were MIA?
NoIdidnt
also if you see them running away all the time, just take in less units. I find one MiG and one f17 should make every scout charge at you. if you bring a mig to a scout fight its likely it will get damaged becouse it has no roll ability. 2 f17s is best option becouse they pack 4 sidewinders in total and it only takes 3 to down a scout, plus the roll ability makes them ideal. NoIdidnt
So turns out 3 light missiles were too much. 2 light missiles and a autogun is good though. Just saying for prosperity. normally i get 10 out of 10 scouts crash landed with 3 sidewinders.
Matthew
In the current build, you cannot use Sidewinders to take down a Scout, you have to machinegun them down. The best choice is to launch 2 sidewinders and then finish it off with the MG. Also, scouts won't flee from 2 F17s.
NoIdidnt
did we have an update im not aware of beyond v9? ive taken out hundreds of scouts before i was even in range of my guns. ive only played v9 and i use 3 sidewinders.
Spectarz
Same here, in fact I take control of my f17's manually and do hit and run with 3 sidewinders=crashed scout every time.
NoIdidnt
lol. i could crash land a scout with my eyes closed. hit afterburners, turn off one missile, hit space bar, and go eat dinner. easy as that!
Matthew
I do the same, use 2 F17s, disable one missile \ craft enable the afterburners and unleash the power of explosives, and let your bullets finish the job. Scouts won't flee from 2 F17s.
