Chris
Hello folks, So we've uploaded a Mac build to Steam. To access it, install Steam for Mac and then activate the Experimental builds: http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/5958-Xenonauts-Experimental-Builds-Instructions It should download the game to Steam directory. It won't launch directly from Steam, but if you go to the Steam directory manually it should be there and ready to install / play. Please can a few people give it a test to see if it works? Martian
Steam won't let me download it... 'Not available on your current platform', despite me running a Mac. And yes, I did all the opting-in stuff. Edited June 29, 2014 by Martian
xenofighter
Similar issue. Xenonauts no longer shows up on my list of Mac games (through the filter). Instead it only shows up on my all games list filter. I opted in and still cannot download through steam.
Chris
Ah. Hopefully that should be fixed now - there was an option I wasn't aware of on Steam. Let me know.
Elrohim
Nope, I opted into the experimental branch again and steam shows me being on that branch, but I don't get an option to install Like others Xenonauts only shows up in the "All" games list and doesn't show up on my Mac games list. Chris
EDIT - right, I've found out what I was doing wrong. It should now be available for download again.
chinchilla
On my way to work, downloading now. Will test tonight.
xenofighter
It was always there, until recently (I think you "flipped a switch" so it appeared as windows only on Steam while you got the mac version ported?). However, whatever you did worked. It's there on my Mac list again and I am downloading. Very slowly....
Martian
Downloading now, will give it a test and see what is what. Well, maybe by tomorrow, anyway. Steam seems disinclined to share it at any reasonable rate. Edit: Time remaining: 12 days Well, call me in two weeks, then. chinchilla
Sorry, I quit on the download. It was going at 9kb/s all day. If I can get good d/l speeds I'll try again.
acrone
It's downloading with 1.1MB/s, from Europe servers
Noy
Hey there. First time poster... and a former diehard addict of the original xcom. I don't have a PC: can I purchase the PC version of the game, then get into the experimental branch to test it on my mac? Many thanks for doing this, I am so excited to test this out! Victus Unus
I've downloaded the the experimental branch, but when I try to run the game I get a warning that the executable is missing. Edit: Ignore that. I just reread the instructions that said that it won't launch directly from steam. When I try launching it from the file directory it doesn't run either. The icon appears in my dock for a few seconds before disappearing. Edited June 30, 2014 by Victus Unus
acrone
Yes, the same issue here
Martian
And third instance of the same- trying to activate from the directory causes the icon to light up for a moment, then it shuts off again without even bringing up a window.
Chris
I'm getting that too on the Mac in the office. Let me look into it some more.
Chris
I've now set this up so it contains a .zip download that hopefully should include the working game. Let me know if it works!
Martian
Computer doesn't seem to register the unpacked file as anything it can run.
deghost
First. Chris and dev-team, thank you for completing the game. I've been off since the initial fundraiser and my pledge and looking forward to the day i finally can play the game. Second. [deleted] Anyway. Thank you again for the game, and since it is already finished, the only thing that remains is to get the experimental build and get it working. (1.06 i've got from desura yesterday is so damn unstable). I still wonder what was it that has changes so significantly since my first tests under wine two years ago. acrone
Still tha same issue, executable is missing.
Victus Unus
Downloaded the latest update and new executable from the .zip file is working for me.
Noy
Works for me too. A little bug I noticed: dead soldiers appear as "dead xenonauts" in the inventory window
Loki
I can run the game but almost all the text is fuzzy. I made some screenshots. I run the game on a 27" iMac in native resolution (2560x1440). Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6970M
Chris
Could everyone with the fuzzy text problem let me know what version of Mac OSX you are using please? It seems to be affecting quite a few people.
Loki
I use version 10.9.
