  1. Chris - Thank you for the help. The files did indeed work (which is great because I am playing normal ironman and my save had become so bogged down that it was simply crashing every time at the same particular moment on the alien's turn). Oddly, I had tried using Xenauts_errors.zip too. But that had not worked.
  2. So I have been playing version 1.09 Steam Mac Version. I am now in the late game (carriers and battleships). Game was working fine except for the occasional crash or graphically glitch, but now that I am facing carriers and battleships the game is glitching almost every turn (the graphics get messy then crash). Funny thing is, this is only really a problem with large multistory ships. Additionally the frame rate slows dramatically once I move my troops on to the upper levels (but lower level of same ship is fine frame rate wise). Basic 1 floor ships are fine as are multistory buildings. Playing it on a 2012 Mac Book Pro running Maverick OS.
  3. That is not a bug, and is instead the intended behavior for reapers. If the zombie is not killed in a few turns, the reaper will burst out of the host on its on. Killing the zombie only speeds up the process: when its dies, a reaper still pops out. But at least there is an advantage to killing the zombies rather than waiting for the reaper to gestate: you can kill them on your own terms, in a manner least likely to result in more attacks. A good burst fire from a heavy weapon or rifle will do the trick, killing both the zombie and newborn reaper.
  4. Using Steam Version for mac. Two things: The main menu art is no longer animated (no moving computer screens). But more importantly, all ufos are entirely invisible. I can see dead aliens, shots are blocked, line of sight is blocked, but there is no ufo. Otherwise the game seems to be working fine. MacBook Pro Core i7 4 GB RAM Intel HD 4000 Graphics Maverick OS
  5. Having a problem with invisible ufos during ground combat. Playing ironman mode normal. First month. Everything else seems to be working perfectly, but during ground combat there is no ufo. The aliens are all there. Shots are 100% blocked and so is visibility, so the ufo is "there" its just not visible (the tiles around the aliens look like normal titles, no distortion or anything).
  6. It was always there, until recently (I think you "flipped a switch" so it appeared as windows only on Steam while you got the mac version ported?). However, whatever you did worked. It's there on my Mac list again and I am downloading. Very slowly....
  7. Similar issue. Xenonauts no longer shows up on my list of Mac games (through the filter). Instead it only shows up on my all games list filter. I opted in and still cannot download through steam.
  8. Hi all, First, I apologize in advance if this question has been answered in another thread. I have done some internet searching and haven't found a definitive answer. But here goes: Is there a Mac version currently available through Steam? I purchased Xenonauts on Steam to play on my PC desktop but I'd like to also play it on my Mac laptop. I read somewhere that there is a mac version available through Desura but I would prefer not to have to purchase again (Sorry Goldhawk, though it is an amazing game ). If not, no biggie. I will just wait till release in a few weeks. Second, I would just like to say this is an excellent game. I miss the era of 90's "hardcore" strategy and RPG games, though I never played the original XCOM. I have however played the Firaxis remake, which I loved despite it's "dumbing" down of many of the strategy elements (I use the term "dumbing" for lack of a better one - perhaps streamlining would be more fair - because I love it for what it is). That said, after playing the remake I wanted to experience the original XCOM and its sequels but never bought them (despite being on Steam for cheap) because it looked like a bit of a hassle to get an old DOS games to run properly on modern OS. That's where Xenonauts comes in. I was extremely excited to discover Xenonauts. I am already a big fan of the current renaissance in indie games. And Xenonauts allowed me to replicate (to some extent) the experience of playing the original without the hassle and with updated graphics etc. I have really enjoyed playing Xenonauts even in its pre-release state. From the aesthetics to the game play, this is a game that speaks to the kid who grew up playing games like Civ II, JA2, Fallout etc. While frustrating, I even found some of the bugs I encountered charming because it reminded me of trying to work through issues in the era before easy to install internet patches etc. And while I understand why the development team would like to move on (both because of the technical issues and "xenonauts fatigue"), I can't help but express a little disappointment that there will be no xpac in the offing. The game is that great in my eyes. Anyway, I usually don't post on internet forums. But I just wanted to thank the developers for putting so much time into what is clearly a labor of love. The game isn't perfect, and can't ever be perfect. But I think it really appeals to people like me and I hope it finds an audience among folks who came up after the "golden age" of 90s strategy gaming who may be looking for something different. Great job, Goldhawk. And thank you. I hope your next project is just as great (and takes a little less time to develop )
