  1. WANKER! For no other reason than because. And beer.
  2. Hey, know what we should do? Get Fend to host a livestream and all of us named in there join in on mics, alternately belittling one another, roleplaying our eventual demise at Fend's hands, or tell him what to do to try and avoid that. Could be good fun. I'll bring sme quality beer and a bottle of Absinthe!
  3. Aw man, I'm the only black guy on these suicide mission. We all know what's gonna happen.
  4. T'was a clean install. Made a special folder or it and everything. Even lit incense while the Xenonauts file was being copied. Tried it a second time and the same thing happened. And this was taking the ten minutes to gradually transfer and overwrite files to every necessary folder, given Mac's curious tendency to just replace an entire folder instead of adding and overwriting with the new stuff. Wonder if maybe because the Mac file is still 1.07, and not up to date with the rest of the world?
  5. 'Marty' Some backwater Canadian wank who spends his free time shooting tooled-up pellet guns. Thing about pellet guns though, is that to shoot them -well-, you have to know exactly how to gauge distance and windage at a glance, and how to apply that knowledge to the specs of the weapon being fired (weight and muzzle velocity of the projectile being used,) and doing it all in your head before each pull of the trigger in order to extrapolate the shot arc. Basically, he's a sniper striving to join the 'eye of a fly at 100 paces' club. When not on duty or annoying people in the parking lot by shooting the cigarettes out of their mouths, he likes to go fishing. The big fish stories he tells are embarrassing.
  6. Unfortunately, the game crashes when I try to enter a ground mission. Problem with using a Mac, I suppose.
  7. Just started a game using the Into The Darkness mod. Haven't even gotten into a fight and love all the extras so far. Some notes: Hovering over the AK47 in the inventory section doesn't divulge any information to me, instead the popup only reads 'Ballistic Rifle'. For some reason its magazine capacity is limited to 20 rounds, when AK magazines have always held 30. Also, the additional magazines button beside the rifle is the same as for the M16 rather than the characteristic banana mag. You are also in dire need of an editor for the Xenopedia entries before you are arrested for wanton abuse of the common comma.
  8. It makes more sense to me that the stun weapons can't stun them, whether through baton or electroshock grenade. I would think that the aliens are sufficiently advanced enough to understand the concept of a Faraday cage, and the Androns being entirely synthetic, would have their outer 'skin' capable of grounding any and all outside sources of current or interference well before it would have any effect on the sensitive circuitry. Basically working with the same principle that lets this guy fool about while getting struck with an arc of several thousand volts worth of electricity: [video=youtube;QqEesFaboV4] You could jab him with as many tazers as you'd like and it wouldn't do diddly.
  9. I have to say, after putting in the improved armour mod and having an entire squad wiped by Sebellian grunts who were able to ignore a salvo of shotgun fire at point blank, I appreciate being able to unlock bigger guns early on. Though if I was to offer a suggestion, I would point to Soviet stockpiles for certain weapons that would prove useful, if technically outdated, for early-game tech. Maybe a 'Surplus' research option early on that allows for additional firepower, while the newer, meaner tech takes longer to get to, if just to balance things out a little more. One that would make sense is the Soviet PTRD 14.5mm anti-tank rifle, which was used effectively against light and medium tanks through WW2. It was a single-shot monster that fired a round that hit with roughly twice the force of the .50BMG. It also came in a semi-auto version, the PTRS. The Soviets kept stockpiles of them, just in case, and I would think it conceivable that they might ship a number of crates to the Xenonaut initiative as a cheap stopgap measure until something more reasonable came along. Though this is just me being overtired and thinking out loud. Edit: Aaaand I just noticed another mod that has them. Of course I only see it after I post.
  10. Computer doesn't seem to register the unpacked file as anything it can run.
  11. And third instance of the same- trying to activate from the directory causes the icon to light up for a moment, then it shuts off again without even bringing up a window.
  12. Downloading now, will give it a test and see what is what. Well, maybe by tomorrow, anyway. Steam seems disinclined to share it at any reasonable rate. Edit: Time remaining: 12 days Well, call me in two weeks, then.
  13. Steam won't let me download it... 'Not available on your current platform', despite me running a Mac. And yes, I did all the opting-in stuff.
  14. Times that that require a button to allow us to reward Xenonauts manually. A couple of medals and a very nice patch of land in Spain or something for services rendered.
  15. I flushed a Seb out of a corner with a rifleman firing at long range. It walked out the door into two snipers at a dozen paces, whom promptly reduced his brain to so much purple mist with reaction shots. Rookie snipers, mark you- this was during my second mission. Could have just been dumb luck, for either of us.
  16. Got 1.06, happy to say that I got to play a number of missions before the grahics glitches made a return. In 1.05HF, the game would be rendered unplayable by them by the third ground attack. This time, I managed ten missions before it gave up the ghost. Still, for what I have been able to play, it has been thoroughly enjoyable. Hoping for a swift cure. Edit: On a happy note again, I tried restarting the game and discovered that the gitches vanished. For how long, I don't know, but hopefully for another ten missions! Huzzah! Edit 2: Aaaand back to sadness. Could only keep going a few more turns before the game crashed my Mac. Rebooted and tried again, but only a few more turns before the game snuffed it again/
  17. Yeah, it's 1.05HF. Humble Bundle isn't coughing up 1.06 yet for mac, and I don't know how to Wine, despite having just drank a bottle.
  18. That's some nasty glitching, yo.
  19. Also getting some rather bad graphics glitches and crashing. Still, no worries. Eager to see the work continue and an eventual native version released.
