  1. Do any of you utilize "dwarven daycare" to train the ultimate warriors?
  2. Skitso, I just wanted to thank you for making this map pack. I can't play Xenonauts without it anymore.
  3. So I finally got around to trying the new version of your mod and I love it. Aside from the awesomeness of having more specialized weapons I also really like the other tweaks in ground combat. There were some things I didn't expect at all and for that alone I will recommend this mod. I also wasn't expecting flamethrowers to be so awesome. Seriously good work on this.
  4. Any news on the issues with Steam? I was not being too cautious with my mods and ended up needing to re-install the game, but whenever I initiate the installation it times out. I tested if it was just my connection by attempting to install something else from Steam, but everything else downloads fine. Only getting this problem with Xenonauts. On a side note, I fracking love this game.
  5. The game crashes when I click on the ammo tab under equipment. Is that a known issue?
  6. Beards aren't traditionally flame-proof, but I am going to try it regardless. Keep up the good work.
  7. I just want to come out and say that this mod is super badass. The first time one of my guys fired one of these automatic grenade launchers, my beard grew three times its size. 9/10 Bald Eagles
  8. You weren't supposed to feed it after midnight!
  9. Yeah, when it serves the public interest. You're simply belittling an idea you disagree with. Nobody gains anything from that so what is the point? I'd understand if you'd be criticizing you're government or whatever for passing a controversial policy or something, because there it is helpful and even important. It is the whole point of freedom of speech and it empowers you to speak out against things that affect you. But this mod doesn't affect you in any way so why go out of your way to be a butt about it? I mean you could say anything here and I can promise you that the real problem will still be out there and you'd have just wasted your time here as an excuse to say you did your part for what you believe in without actually doing anything. What I'm saying is that if this is just about your opinion, there are better places to discuss that without insulting someones work. Or at the very least, if you're into that, pick work that deserves to be insulted. Besides, you could have simply said that the mod isn't for you, which offends nobody, and is just as pointless. So you'd achieve the exact same thing without coming across as offensive yourself.
  10. XenoMask, I'm not offended at your being offended. In fact, I'm not offended at all. I'm just sick of the way people are so eager to jump on the "that's offensive" bus. There's nothing offensive about this mod. To clarify, I said that it's just as offensive to imply that the women in the game have to look manly, just because they are militant. It's sort of the same thing as saying that you can't be wearing the uniform if you don't look like a man. I get where you are coming from though, the media puts a lot of pressure on women and having the "perfect" figure and whatnot, but this isn't one of those instances. It's just a dude, making a mod to make the women look less like dudes. My point is that when people take offence to everything it ends up screwing over the few people who didn't mean to offend anyone. You also end up feeding the people who get kicks out of complaining about being offended. You mentioned objectivity and subjectivity, but did you at all consider Skitso's point of view when you chose your words? I'm also fine with people raising their opinions. Go nuts, but at least present it in a way that isn't insulting or you know, don't go looking for something offensive where there really isn't anything to be offended by. Also I'd like to point out that the games that have the kinds of mods that bother you also have mods that make men more muscular, add bigger units etc. This problem goes both ways. If you really want to complain about something offensive, go and find something that is actually offensive. I hope that clears up what I said and understand that I am not trying to make anyone aggro. Maybe we should leave the matter or you can PM me if you really still want to discuss anything further with me (as long as the discussion remains civil)
  11. Pretty sure half the guys freaking out on this thread aren't even genuine. On another note, the internet is practically 90% boobs. What are you guys even doing on the internet if THIS offends you? It only bothers me because I feel like a lot of people are eager to jump on the "gaming industry is sexist" bandwagon. Sure, in many ways it is (The industry, not this mod), but if you really have such strong feelings about the subject, I would hope that you'd at least take the time to come up with a way to present your point without being offensive yourself. I mean there is a massive leap between what Skitso did here and, say, Dead or Alive (all of them). I mean if Skitso wanted to sexualize the female image (which is the entire basis of aforementioned bandwagon) he could have easily assaulted your faces with tons of cleavage and whatnot. Oh he didn't? Well now. I think Skitso just wanted to make a more pronounced visual difference between men and women. He wasn't trying to make some kind of sexist statement. Maybe it's unrealistic, but I think he pulled it off in a way that doesn't belittle or objectify women. In a way, you guys are implying that this mod is offensive because the female soldiers look more distinctly feminine. Nobody said they HAVE to look that way, Skitso just added the option. Nobody said there's anything wrong with looking less feminine in uniform, but to be offended by the opposite? That means you are implying that it's offensive when you don't have a more manly profile in uniform. Which also happens to come across as kind of sexist. I'd understand if Skitso took the Japanese gaming approach, but he didn't (To be fair, nothing in Xenonauts has tentacles). So either some people need to go look up what sexism actually is, or you need to stop looking for it where there is none. Anyway back to the topic, I think you did a good job, Skitso.
