  1. Your mod certainly looks like worth trying out! For sure it will add some flavour to my game. Do I need to start a new one game or it will work with the old one? Also, if you don't mind me asking, which files I should edit to make the game more challenging? Thanks!
  2. Thanks! And how about changing difficulty of already running game? Any known hacks?
  3. Thanks for your responses. Guess I need to gives some space to the invaders, although it feels a bit awkward. I guess switching to Insane might be even better idea, but is it possible in-game? I do not want to start a new game. In all strategic games, including UFO: Enemy Unknown, I always strived for a superiority on a strategic layer, which I guess is not uncommon thing to do. I was kind of hoping that regardless of that bases will just spawn. Which UFO construct bases? Corvette, Landship?
  4. I am in mid-January and still no base assult mission happened to me. Am I too efective in taking down enemy UFO or it is just my luck? I am playing on Veteran difficulty level. I vaguely remember that in Beta the first such mission was in November the latest.
  5. Thank you Commissar. I just remember times when the rates for all airstrikes were much higher. Crisis?
  6. Hey, What are the current airstrike rates for e.g. small scout? I am playing on 1.07 and I receive 15,000$, not enough even to cover for improved armour. I vaguely remember that at some point Chris mentioned that amount of cash will be buffed a bit, so I wonder whether it made to the game. Thing is I started this campaign on either 1.05 or 1.05.
  7. Desura still did not get 1.06 for Linux. Any word on when can we expect it? Thanks for the great work!
  8. Your flawed assumption lead to millions of civilian causalities, Commander. Oh wait, actually I am not sure how obvious it would be for me if not for experience with original UFO . Your other idea was correct: next time try sending Chinook. You have time to get to any terror site in the world. Good luck!
  9. If I understood Chris correctly, then on Humble Bundle you can already find a native build that is reasonably up to date. I suppose you have Steam edition, but you could try asking Chris to provide you Humble Bundle key. Anyway, I would wait with playing till 1.05 is out (as Kordanor suggested) to get the best experience. Although if you like start right away, then 1.0 is already great and there should be no save-breaking changes when upgrading. Have fun!
  10. Hej Cytrynek, Linux builds are available, but to my knowledge they are quite outdated. I am quite sure that Chris, The Supreme Leader, said that couple of days after Windows release we should also expect one for Linux. Stay tuned and do not despair. Unless there is a reason you do not use the native port other than too old build?
  11. Honestly, it seems Goldhawk Interactive and its beloved leader Chris have no idea about modern software development process. Fixing all issues BEFORE releasing the product? No intention whatsoever to produce a dozen patches in the coming month? Guys, you should hire some managers and quality auditor; and by any means do not forget to create a Resource Optimisation Team! It really feels like some retarded, pre-internet era game, when game developers did not have all the smart business people above their heads, therefore releasing product when it is actually ready. And now what? Am I going to play a game without familiar crashes to desktop, game-breaking stuff or major balancing issues? I am not even sure if I still know how. I was always so much looking forward to weekly patches to every newly released game on Steam. So disappointed, shame on you Chris! All is not lost. Perhaps in time you will become a more mature organisation and forfeit some of your malpractices, especially this community feedback nonsense. You should get internships in a corporate environment, where they will teach you such useful things like pushing most of issues to backlog (connected to a black hole or parallel universe on the other end) and that nice graphics is all that matters. Learn that only marketing department is worthy of saying what should be in. And that there is no problem in a "process" that cannot be fixed by introducing a new process, preferably with lot of signatures and 20-page long template. Your sincerely, Lucas
  12. I would also like to hear what are the plans for Linux? I do not mind using Desura.
  13. Since now I am using multiple map packs, how can I tell the name of a map? Of course I could just make screenshot and ask who recognises those doors standing in the middle of nowhere . Actually I liked them, somehow they felt a bit like Neil Gaiman had a contribution there.
  14. I am using both Stinky's and Skitso's maps - they both did terrific job! No problems seen so far on Stable 21, I can wholeheartedly recommend installing them and enjoying new challenges. Wonder whether GH could include them in the official set and perhaps compensate somehow authors for their hard work? It is quite late in the process, but the added maps really make huge difference in case player wants to do given type of UFO more than a couple of times. The game would stand a bit lower in my ranking if not for the community map packs that add good amount of replayability. Only a couple of these maps could use additional polish.
  15. Thanks for prompt response! Indeed I used the client. I see that there is a V20 Stable 2 available. Any word on when we can expect V21 for Linux?
  16. I downloaded the game with Desura on Linux. When I try to launch it I get following error on command line: Failed to execl .../desura/common/xenonauts/xenonauts [] error: 13 I do not have any other games on this OS, so I cannot say whether it could be something environment related. Any ideas how to solve it?
  17. And you were expecting that I am going to write a dissertation for you? If you can prove that something already well established as a literature is no different than a forum post, than you are done. These Assyrian tablets are full of grammar errors. Of course you can also go the other way and show that most of forum posts have no merit at all and fail at passing any information. I kindly quoted one for starter .
  18. There are triple-A titles that never made that far in quality, not to mention other aspects, half a year after the release. Go ahead, current state of the game is definitely production-ready IMHO. Boost to AI aggressiveness from the latest hotfix was much appreciated; I got blasted by Androns, which made me very happy.
  19. Sure it can be considered a literature. Here, project completed . The usual definition is that a literature is written work, in whatever form, that posses literary merit. If you dwell into 4th millennium BC you will find writings that are now considered a literature, but essentially are no different than a forum post (except that ours will hardly survive 5+ years, not to mention 5000...). I love reading Assyrian tablets; it's amazing how people thousands years ago were actually writing about the same stuff like today, complaining about young people not listening to parents, modern (lack of) culture, fall of morals...
  20. On a mission with large crashed UFO, in place of floor tiles I get tiles labelled "floor block". Well, at least I know what sort of tile I should imagine . Do you need a save?
  21. Great, thanks! It is not a bug, but just a feature that might be confusing: dropship loadout (soldiers, vehicles) can be only arranged given that fuel is 100%. Recently I tried to re-order my troops and could not. Thinking it is a bug I looked first whether it was reported and only then found out that what I am trying to do is impossible if tanks are not full. If I did not see it working before I would think such feature is not available.
  22. There is more to what Max Caine said: new player will not know they need a workshop and some others (like me) will simply forget to build one. Then I will find myself in a need for it on 10th day, which effectively puts me on 23rd day of invasion... If you need to build it anyway, why just not have it from start? Maybe it would make sense if the maintenance and wages were calculated pro-rata (i.e. half month - half cost), but in Xenonauts we pay always the same. Just yesterday I sacked 15 scientists in an operation of moving R&D department to Asia and did not pay them a penny for 30 days of work. Was someone saying that Xenonauts lack in realism? :-) Not that I am complaining about that the game's economy: I much prefer to have a clear balance sheet then realistic accountancy (God forbid).
  23. I guess what Autoclave had in mind in just smarter mechanics behind the scene. In theory if in none of your units has line of sight to the enemy unit and alien has no intention of getting there, then you could just teleport the alien to a given position. It would be an optimization of an algorithm, not a change in game rules.
  24. Confirm. Both lack of problems and getting less sleep due to the game. Same feeling like with best of the best: UFO, Civilization ... e.g. "just one more turn" and "only this tech and I am done" symptoms.
  25. Methinks you have answered your question already . You say "no brainer", but you are well aware how "trivial" it was to fix the damn thing in XCOM2012. I bet Firaxis has good developers, so apparently it is not that easy as one can imagine. Also, a lot depends on engine and weighting costs vs. benefits. I would rather to have a safe mechanics in place.
