  1. Do you have some samples? I'd love to see what you're working on. If you want you can private message me.
  2. Sure: Step 1: I selected an image I had done before to get a neck that fits well in the Xenonauts PSD template. The neck posture is key. Step 2: I select a face that I want to work with that has the right profile otherwise it will look awkward or off in some of the armours. Step 3: I give the guy some hair...it could be a new nose, lips, ears, eyes. Step 4: I give the guy a new jaw/ mouth. You'd be amaze at how different a person looks like with a new jaw line. The steps vary depending on the portrait. Some are more complicated and others more simple, although most of them are more complicated than simple. I also did a lot of color correcting which is not shown in the steps, but matching skin pigments is also key. I hope that helps.
  3. Ha, thanks, but I wouldn't go that far. I'm glad you guys liked it. I think I might give the helmet for Buzzard a shot next.
  4. Thanks Falidell, for a second I thought the mystery was solved. It seems like there is probably a "Footsteps Template" file that we don't have access to. I'll ask one of the devs and see if I can get a response. Thanks for the help.
  5. Update ----------------------------- I have updated this mod with 2 new Wolf helmets with a camo version for each also available. The original tall Wolf helmet with camo is still available. Wolf V2 uses the top of the Buzzard helmet: Wolf V3 is completely new. I made sure it was smaller and wrapped around the person's head better. It might show some clipping on the original portraits with big hair, but it should work perfectly with Jsleezy's Real Fighter Portrait Pack. You can find the mod and download instructions here: http://xeno-mods.com/mod/153/jsleezy-s-real-armors
  6. Seems to be a constant theme around my mods hehe.
  7. Yeah, there is only a slight height difference: I'll keep messing around it see what I can come up with.
  8. Somebody called my name? I made a quick fix for the wolf armor. Basically I substituted the top part of the helmet with the Buzzard one. Here is what it looks like: I'll add camo to it as well later today. I might also try a few different things. In any case, here is the link for the download: http://xeno-mods.com/mod/153/jsleezy-s-real-armors
  9. I did not ripped them from textures from the game but I will take that as a compliment. I think EchoFourDelta has the best answer here. My answer was going to be "well, it's for dissipating extreme heat generated by the jetpack like a heatsink." My other answer is it's just a mod for a game, man. If you don't like it don't download it.
  10. Yeah, I know that...I've been modding it for a while. Let me be more clear. Here is the sound for my soldiers running on concrete: <Template name="Concrete" comment=""> <BootFootsteps volume="0.7" group="1"> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_boots_run_concrete_1.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_boots_run_concrete_2.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_boots_run_concrete_3.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_boots_run_concrete_4.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_boots_run_concrete_5.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_boots_run_concrete_6.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/AWESOME_CUSTOM_SOUND.ogg</Wave> </BootFootsteps> Here is the sounds Aliens are supposed to have while running on concrete: <AlienFootsteps volume="0.7" group="1"> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_alien_concrete_1.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_alien_concrete_2.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_alien_concrete_3.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_alien_concrete_4.ogg</Wave> <Wave>audio/sfx/footsteps/fs_alien_concrete_5.ogg</Wave> </AlienFootsteps> See where I have AWESOME_CUSTOM_SOUND.ogg? It plays on the Alien's turns as well no just my Xenonauts even tho the Aliens have designated code and designated sounds. This makes me believe the alien footstep sounds are not being used since both the Aliens and Xenonauts are using AWESOME_CUSTOM_SOUND.ogg. Makes sense?
  11. Thanks, Ishantil I'm glad you like the armor and thanks for the support. The predator armor will probably have very similar feel. But yeah, when I saw your first post I was like "Umm...ok this has nothing to do with my mod" lol Ha! Maybe IT WAS stripped from the hull of the alien craft and strapped onto one of those Xenonaut grunts. Believe it or not I've never gotten past regular ballistics weapons. I've not played the game enough to get that far...been modding the crap out of it tho. Steam says I have 20 hours on it...must have been 20 hours testing stuff and reloading the game because I've only done a few missions.
  12. I was trying to add more sounds to the footsteps code for my xenonauts but it also changes the footstep sounds for the aliens although the aliens have their own designated code/files. Is it a bug? Perhaps the devs haven't got to linking the aliens to the right code. Does anybody know? Also, unlike any sounds, it seems like footstep sounds end right after the action is completed. Does anyone know how to get around that? Thanks for the help.
  13. My whole thinking around it was that all the armors are basically prototypes. The scientists only have a few weeks to come up with these things using alien technology too advanced for their understanding therefore they look a little primitive, like they were put together in a hurry with only a prayer to hold them together. Sorry you didn't like it, but if you have any ideas on some of the armors I haven't worked on I'd love to hear them.
  14. Thanks Elydo. Any download is welcomed. Also, you can always back up your game and check out the mods then replace and go back to vanilla if you want to try them out.
  15. Thanks for the kind words! I do plan to create female portraits. I've actually already have the assets collected I just need to start working on them next week. I'm taking a few days off from doing portraits to do some freelance work...and a new mod haha. Thanks! I'll post a preview on the other thread once I have a few to show.
  16. I was trying to add more sounds to the footsteps code for my xenonauts but it also changes the footstep sounds for the aliens although the aliens have their own designated code/files. Can anybody else check this? I think it might be a bug. Perhaps the devs haven't got to linking the aliens to the right code. Does anybody know?
  17. Thanks, guys. A lot of hours of hard work went into this. I hope you guys get to enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying it right now.
  18. This thread is now redundant. You can now check out the released files here : http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/11629-V1-08-Jsleezy-s-Real-Fighter-Portrait-Pack This mod was created to add a little realism and personality to the game. This is a replacer for all original portraits. Currently this is what it does: - Adds 114 unique male portraits. NO REPEATS. (There are 36 repeats in vanilla version) - Adds 32 unique female portraits. - Adds gloves to missing portraits and a few hand images which color I couldn't match Optional (Highly Recommended): - Adds more diversity to the soldier pool. Some nations can now pull from all soldiers portraits even the custom ones. 95% of the time vanilla only pulls the same 35 male portraits (out of a possible 114!!!) over and over - Slightly changes the distribution of nationalities in the soldier pool - Reduces the chances of getting a female soldier from 40% to 20% Here is what the portraits look like in ground combat Get it here: http://www.nexusmods.com/xenonauts/mods/2/?
  19. On the male portraits, it's missing custom portraits #27, 44, and 72 which could be the cause of this.
  20. Yep, there are extra </Nation> tag places before Soviet Union, Greek and Finland which are keeping everybody from getting any nation listed after Soviet Union. Also, under Soviet Union, <LastName>Zaretsky</LastName> was misspelled which was causing my game to crash upon creating a new game.
  21. I wasn't sure if I should put this in the bug report forum but here it goes: The background.png image in the ground combat UI has some corners that are not fully transparent. Image below: The grey corners look more prominent on my screen than they do in my image. Nothing photoshop can't fix but I just thought I'd put it out there.
  22. Hey yeah no problem. I hope you made them at a bigger resolution if they are not vector files. They will pixelate if you scale something up if it's not a vector...but you probably already know about that. Good luck and have fun!
  23. Make it so that we can add a short eulogy for each fallen soldier: "In memory of Barbara Sanchez - Great teammate and soldier...terrible common sense. She was outnumbered 3-1 in an alien base, but gave them hell until the end."
