  1. The reason Elite 4 will do so well is that many of us have been desperate for a game to improve on what Elite started for nearly 30 years. Elite 2 and 3 were technically clever but flawed, newtonian physics made the combat poor (in my and many people's opinion). The clincher for me to back the project was DB's admission that those physics meant the gameplay was not as good as the original. Despite the many tens or even hundreds of clones, nothing has ever matched Elite - though Privateer came close and exceeded it in many ways (the world was just too small though). They have all had flaws, or just features, that stopped them giving the feel that Elite did. I only found out about Star Citizen yesterday on the Elite 4 boards and I've backed that too. Rather than competing with each other I think having two games of this type with such a pedigree will stir up more funding and more interest.
  2. Still getting Desura problems. I've been checking back through the posts here for previous versions but each direct link seems to be a patch for an earlier version. Can you post the direct link for the latest full build and the patch(es) we need?
  3. And considering how long we've been waiting for a decent XCOM successor I can certainly accept a few more delays. :-)
  4. Yep - would be a great idea, working out just how far you can move by trial and error can be a pain.
  5. If at all possible please make these options - some people will like having the buildings always visible, some will want them to always be limited to seeing what's on the current level. If my (now aging) memory serves me right X-Com had an option to flick between those two settings.
  6. Apologies if this has already been covered - I haven't seen it. Sometimes you see an alien move who disappears out of sight, or you see an alien shot. When it comes to your turn you have to rely on remembering where they came from when in fact you'd expect the soldiers in question to remember. It would be great to have some form of visual indicator in those cases. Though I imagine it may take quite a lot of work to put in place.
  7. Replace Xenonauts with "UN controlled agency" and the reluctance to fund makes perfect sense. Fluctuations in funding refer to the governments belief in you. If you are doing poorly for them they'll put their focus into other areas (which we, as players of the game, know won't work but in real life this happens a lot)
  8. [7.5.1 Ground Combat] One soldier often has no weapon in hand until I click on the inventory button when it re-appears. Seems to also affect reserving time so it's not just visual.
  9. [7.5.1 Ground Combat] Game crash on shooting a large gas/oil tank. Game crashed out to the "Xenonauts is not responding" error. 3 or 4 turns into the ground combat I think.
  10. Maybe something to provide as an option - easy to keep everyone happy that way.
  11. Yeah - I really like the idea of having different options - engage at all costs, engage over land. Not sure if this is already in there (just learning) but being able to choose whether your interceptors try to reach the UFO as fast as possible or try to group together even if they have different speeds.
  12. Maybe have the ability to set the default in the soldier loadout screen - either per soldier or per weapon type.
  13. Sounds like the same thing - froze but not on hidden movement, I could see the alien in question but it just sat on him.
  14. Hi Chris, No - unfortunately not. If I try to go to Xenonauts in Desura it tells me I don't have the game and gives me the option to buy either of the two versions. :-( To be fair I made a mistake in not clicking the play link, but I can't seem to get it to link the game now no matter what I do. Simon
  15. Damn - messed up by not clicking the "Now play" or whatever it was button. Game isn't linked, and if I try again it tells me that my account has already been used. Anyone come across that / solved that already before I bug the developers?
