An XCom veteran from the early days, I played the jungle demo to death waiting for the first game to come out.

Also an author of Speculative fiction - check out www.simongoodson.com
  1. I've come across a really interesting kickstarter for a game with turn-based combat with Angels, Demons, modern tech, magic and far more. Seeing as we're all here because we love that type of game (and most of us because of the original XCom games) I thought some of you might be interested. I'm not connected with the Kickstarter other than really wanting to play the game. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dreamlordsdigital/graywalkers-purgatory-turn-based-post-apocalyptic
  2. Bit late to the party but... great news, and keep up the excellent work. I'm steering clear until the final beta now so I get the full effect of the game (thanks and respect to all those getting involved in the testing and making the game better).
  3. I'm getting the same "empty hangar" problem, building a second spare now to see if that works.
  4. Ah - I hadn't noticed that the basic weapons were all unlimited. So has the need to buy things been removed?
  5. I haven't played in quite a few months so maybe I'm just being stupid, but I can't work out how to buy things in the beta (weapons, planes etc). Can someone point out the stupid mistake I'm making? :-)
  6. Indie games get delayed, improved then released. Big budget titles also get the same problems but they are often just released with all the bugs and issues but still tagged as being the "finished" product.
  7. I didn't get stung on that particular game but I completely agree - and this is one reason that the indie / kickstarter / Xenonauts model is such a good one. Games should no longer be pushed out incomplete (except as alpha / beta tests) and developers will just about always want to get the best game out there they can. I disagree on the refunds though - when games have been costing between £30 and £50, and even higher at one point, that's a lot of money for some people. They might only be able to buy one game a month. If that game, which would have been sold as a "complete" game, turns out to be buggy and unplayable it's not unreasonable that they want their money back so they can buy something else.
  8. Except as the money keeps ticking up they keep increasing what will be in the game (3 new systems and a new ship type just in the past few days). The more money they get the more they can build in from the start.
  9. I think this is off Green Light and onto Steam proper now, but I just came across it - "Don't Starve". Absolutely brilliant survival game, and when you die certain progress (unlocked skills) persist so you do feel that you are making progress. Still in Alpha / Beta (says both in different places) but great to play already.
  10. I thought that a year ago when I paid for the Xenonauts Alpha... looking good so far. :-)
  11. My first crash had a single survivor then the next 3 or 4 had none (so I moved everyone around on the first turn then the mission ended). I've been told this shouldn't happen (was referred to here ) so reporting it as a bug.
  12. OK - thanks for the feedback. I'll try to be a bit less rough on them next time. :-) Though the game might need to suggest that to new players to the genre (and, obviously, certain old hands like me)
  13. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere already. Firstly - wonderful to be playing Xenonauts after XCOM:EU -- I had my first two UFOs at the same time, and seven within a few days. Actually feels like there's an alien invasion. I haven't played the Alpha for some time so not sure if this is new, but my first crash had a single survivor then the next 3 or 4 had none (so I moved everyone around on the first turn then the mission ended), then again I had a crash with just a single survivor. I'm playing on normal mode but even so this seems a bit too easy. Have I just been really lucky or do other people see this too?
