  1. Damn, I know it doesn't really make sense but I'd rather an 80% damage reduction from a direction than just a chance for a heavy plasma bolt to slip through the faceplate. Also, and related to other posts about armor, I think it would actually make SENSE for the shield to reduce your sight range like the Jackal armor does, wheras the Jackal armor should really only reduce the visible arc

  3. Damn, must be something else too, maybe regular grenades. Just had it happen in a mission with no stuns and no rockets.
  4. Well, first time I've gotten to play a build with a working Combat.shield. Seems pretty great for my pistol play style. Anyone know the exact mechanics for it? It doesn't seem to interrupt every shot, but I'm not sure if it's been the angle of the shot, a % like cover (better when kneeling?) or maybe some of the damage bleeds through? Can I effectively equip two of them at once and run in to draw fire?

  6. Aborting the mission near the end still causes the crash. Reloading the game from the Autosave does allow me to abort the mission successfully, so something that happened during the mission is causing the crash. Attempting to load a game any time after ending the mission would crash the game, crashes the game. Wow, I think I found it. Firing the rocket launcher seems to be causing the corruption. Running around and gaining TUs/STR didn't cause a problem. Shooting a sebillian with a rifle didn't cause a problem. Shooting a rocket and hitting a sebillian caused it to crash when aborting mission. Shooting a rocket into the ground caused it to crash when aborting mission.
  7. SEE BELOW, ROCKETS SEEM TO BE BROKEN FOR ME. First ground combat crashed when I hit the OK after viewing soldier stat changes. After I reloaded the combat completed successfully. Second ground combat went fine. Third ground combat I have not been able to finish, each time I reload, the game crashes to desktop with a standard windows error message. All three were vs sebillians in a light scout, desert type map. Two other visual things: Reloading into those games, I noticed all ground damage was repaired upon reloading. Props and stuff were still half/totally destroyed, but any dots/burn marks from explosions were wiped away. Also when I hold both a med-kit and a pistol, my soldier literally spits bullets. Looks amusing.
  8. Ahmgad, THEY GIVE SHIELDS RIGHT OFF THE BAT? ahaahah, Super happy pistol time now. Game now at least 70% more faceroll even with Sebillian sight range change.
  9. Too early. You've shot down what, a few light scouts, maybe a scout or two by the time you get alien alloys?
  10. Haha, except you get to shoot first. At least 16 times. -and you get FULL TU usage, no needing to move out of your craft.
  11. Agree with the new section, but probably up to Matthew eh. Also getting the reported crash upon completing first Seb light scout. "Xenonauts has stopped working..." Reloaded an in-combat save, and upon completing the second time, it worked just fine. Odd.
  12. It worked just fine. Big open area where your ship used to land, can place your guys anywhere in there. Huuuge open area. If you want to evacuate though, the exact points you put down your soldiers are recorded though haha. Imagine THAT scramble for safety. Only problem I have with it is that it's not as fast as I'd like.
  13. Not sure the 5 extra damage for the shotgun for the 20 TU shot cost is really a point in it's favor over the pistol. Pistol 20 damage, 10 TU shot 16M Shotgun 25 damage, 20 TU shot. 24M Shotgun might have a niche in the 16-24M range... I guess. Will have trouble convincing people to use it though I suspect. Specially with twice the shots meaning even more accuracy skillups for your troops But anyway, could easily make it to Feb with minimal losses using about 50% of my troops with pistols. You also shouldn't have to worry about grenades destroying equipment. At least not yet, it could change.
  14. Loving the damage numbers in combat. Much easier to see when I hit the alien vs just hitting somewhere in the square. Would prefer colored numbers though, like red or yellow.
  15. You can avoid the friendly fire by having the one "in front" kneel, when they are side by side.
  16. You get them if you let the Medium ships with 2 escorts land, generally. If you shoot them down... no terror sites! And more cash from the alloys and reactors etc. I think there might be some sort of mission progression (scout for base, something something, base, profit?) since it took over a month of skipping all interceptions to get a base around mid-march. Or in both our cases it could just be down to random rolls. On strength there's no need to go over. My guys were mostly around 90 str by the end of the first month by being just under red. I like my TUs.
  17. Mid-march now, still just carriers. Very sad. having to do ground missions again for the cash. There we go. wow yes, that sucker drinks up magstorm ammo. By midmarch though you should be able to afford fleets of aircraft though.
  18. Finally ran a mission with a Valk... LOVE the deployment phase, and combined with the number of elite troops i can cram in it... ground combat is even easier. Not impressed with the airspeed, was hoping I'd be able to at least zoom to those hopping massive/large ships before they took off. It's a HUGE area to deploy in though, and at least the spot I landed in had "stuff" around the edges I could use as cover. Heh, plus anything that spawns near me can be shot by 16 guys with near 100 accuracy. Splat?
  19. Hmm, finally played with interceptors with a marauder using MAG. Can do it without taking damage, just slow your craft down dramatically when you are about to get in range using the slider on the right, dodge once for the enemy missile. No missiles needed. Still trying to ream my game into the ground to get battleships, but nothing cept carriers yet. Jesus, skipped through a whole month of not intercepting anything... how far past carriers are battleships?
  20. Huh, tell me of this later conversion to alenium, never saw that!
  21. How many terror missions you get will depend on your playstyle. I am fairly aggressive and rarely get any terror sites.
