  1. In what sense does AI war cost nothing? I thought you had to pay for it.
  2. It's a bug that has been noted several times, and is simply because double-handed weapons seem to be counted twice for encumbrance when the mission is over or something (although I have not checked that this occurs with people using pistols)
  3. You need to research Alenium to get laser weapons IIRC. I can confirm the ubiquitiousness of Androns carrying plasma rifles and no plasma pistols.
  4. Alright, I've been playing Xenonauts for a while, and still can't get the hang of using grenades without them exploding in the faces of my soldiers. Can someone explain to me how grenades work in Xenonauts, or at least give me some pointers towards not having my soldiers get blown up when they want to throw a grenade through a door or around a crashed UFO?
  5. Something else possibly related to this: some of the aliens drop "human corpses" and no weapons when killed.
  6. I've noticed that the music for ground combats isn't playing, though this may be intentional as all of the ground combats I have played with version 8.62 have been at night.
  7. I can confirm both of these bugs. I think it may have something to do with the fact that we are up against Androns (as shown in your mission debrief Zinn). EDIT: Something I have just noticed, for the turn after you kill a "civalien", the "alien sighted" indicator shows up even though the ostensible target is dead.
  8. Well, I suppose part of the confusion is that stx is being penalised for 3 Xenonaut casualties, while one of these "casualties" is perfectly able to conduct missions at full capacity after some recuperation. Maybe the mission debrief (and scoring system) shouldn't consider such people to be casualties?
  9. I don't see why the game should be changed because someone pulled off the street at random doesn't know the difference between an interceptor and an air superiority fighter. Also, your comment about agility not being required for dogfighting doesn't make any sense to me.
  10. Actually, if you outfit a Mig with 4 Avalanches, you can use that to down a corvette (since they can't dodge effectively) without taking much damage (especially if you retreat immediately after firing the missiles)
  11. Yeah, the corvette hasn't been terrain-objected (can't think of the right word at the moment), so it is an Evil Alien Shed in ground combat.
  12. Actually Moonie, can you explain why the current UFO model is worse in terms of strategical depth.
  13. So does that mean we can get an ETA for transport landings in local time?
  14. I am not sure if this is considered a necropost, but I can confirm this occurs in version 8.5 as well.
  15. Yes it is, but it seems to mostly affect crashed UFOs.
  16. Medkits worked the last time I used them (that was in 8.4 though)
  17. Yeah. I blame Jean-Luc for bringing up the Hussite wars .
  18. OK, I have actually thought about a X-COM clone set in the middle ages, but that never got anywhere (think I got stuck on the "how does Medieval Europe defend itself against an opponent that can fly?" question). I am wondering however as to what the people here think the research reports would look like.
  19. During a ground combat, I was able to get two soldiers to move to the same tile by issuing movement orders to both soldiers quickly enough. Afterwards, I noticed two things: firstly I was only able to select one of the soldiers from the map, as when I moved him away the game acted as if there was no-one there, secondly I was able to order other soldiers to move through the now-incorporeal soldier, as shown here.
  20. Yeah, I guess I forgot you might want to know how much further your in-flight aircraft can go.
  21. Well, if a plane uses 30% of its fuel to go somewhere, then goes back towards its base with 10% of its fuel, it won't be able to go farther than if it used 40% of its fuel to go somewhere, so therefore the operational range (which I thought was defined as the locations the plane could safely travel to without running out of fuel) should be a circle.
  22. When I say that the map is flat, that means that the world is not curved (as shown by the radar range being a circle and not heavily distorted), so the aircraft operational range would also be a circle.
