Wolverik Posted May 21, 2013 Share Posted May 21, 2013 Since version 18.5 I can finally play some missions although I still have frequent crashes to desktop at end of missions or when I try to save the game. The game looks pretty good but what I don’t like at all is the fact that all soldiers are very easily and fast promoted to commanders within a couple of missions. I don’t want to fight with a crew of commanders which is completely unrealistic and would spoil a lot of the fun for me. Is it not possible to restrict promotion based on the number of soldiers like in x-com apocalypse, e;g 1 cpl for 4 soldiers; 1 sgt for 4 cpl…. Also Charlie crew should be raised to 12 again because with terror missions 6+tank is much too low. I still hope that there will be a history list on my soldiers, also the KIA ones. Not sure if it'll be slot-limited like the OG, since its they way it is since now you know for sure that a high-ranked trooper is ALWAYS a skilled veteran. There's been some discussions about Charlie crew. I'm with the 'keep it 8' camp, since there really aren't all that many aliens early on. By the time you really need more, the next dropship becomes available. I don't use tanks though (and play with a mod that increases alien numbers). I find 8 to be just the right amount. Using a tank is a bit harder, but it has its own advantages (not being shot at with reaction fire as much for one). History list is a possible polish item. If there's time and money, maybe. winterwolves Posted June 11, 2013 Share Posted June 11, 2013 I'd just like to add a +1 that a whole squad full of lieutenants and higher bothers me too. Who would actually do all the work? I did like the slot limited way of the OG. Also, with the medals (which I like a lot) there is another way to spot veterans. Oh and the memorial would be a nice touch too. If we really wanted to be realistic, then officers and enlisted troops would practically run on separate paths since in real life, it's rare for enlisted men to actually become officers. Maybe someone can mod the names and have something like: Recruit -> Grunt -> Agent -> Specialist -> Veteran -> Crack -> Elite -> Ace -> Legend On another note, I would actually like to see a mod where you have soldiers and officers as separate entities. Officers would give squad bonuses, but you could only take one (or maybe two with research or something) per transport.
