TacticalDragon
Maybe no one know, i strongly believe that the system reads only ogg.
Jace11
I don't know if other sound files are read. The .ogg format is quite old, but used in alot of games. You can convert other formats to .ogg with sound editors. I've used an old program called goldwave to convert mp3s to ogg for use in Xenonauts (have the music from PS remake of XCOM on my geoscape). Vorbis 44100Hz, 128kbps, (0.4q), stereo is the format I converted it to, works fine.
Selgald
Small developers uses ogg a lot. Simply because its free, and contain anything.
Ragnarok
specifying an mp3 file will CRASH the game once its forced to play the mp3 file. So i suppose the same is true for any other non-ogg format. FYI.
Selgald
Thats because there is no MP3 codec included in xenonauts.

Aleksi
Small developers uses ogg a lot. Simply because its free, and contain anything. And big devs too. If you use MP3 you'd have to pay copyrights. So everybody goes for OGG.

I rip CDs to MP3 all the time so I can put them on my USB player in my car. All the rippers are free.
