[v20e3] Reactionfire on dead enemy

Recommended Posts

Gotta agree with dropbear.

Currently it is just bit useless to save any TU to reactionfire.

Always better than nothing ofcource!

I hope you guys have some time to twiddle with the reactionfire before releasing the game.

I assume this is not top of to-do list. And also is at the todo list already?

One suggestion I had in mind, would be that we could have

option to take, or not take the reactionfire shot.

Example: 10s time to make choice or game goes further. (options like: Fire / Skip)

Also I was thinking, that you could get "new changes" to take shot,

if reaction fire %change works in your favor as opponent moves.

Could be "risky" but then again would make reaction fire much more usefull.

Just an idea :)

Since we're suggesting changes to the reaction fire mechanic anyway, I always liked the way Jagged Alliance 2 (1.13) dealt with it. Basically if you get an interrupt a player turn is inserted (and vice versa for enemies). This allows to decide weather you want to take the shot or not, which would also nicely solve the death-by-friendly-fire-because-an-alien-walked-around-the-corner issue. Depending on what the code looks like this might of course be too drastically a change, but maybe not.

One thing to note is, that if you go down that road, give the player some way to disable reactionfire if below a certain number of TUs. Otherwise you'll get spammed with interrupts you can't do anything in :)

Anyway wrong forum for suggestions i guess, so I'll stop now.

I reported this issue earlier, here is the reply I got:

This is intentional, as reaction fire is meant to occur simultaneously but we

can't focus the camera on all the units simultaneously.
