Camouflaged Armor

Recommended Posts

In short, No.

To explain; the game uses tons of little "sprites", or 2d images, to make up the ground combat. Adding camo would a) require thousands of new images to be made, painted, incorporated, etc, b) necessitate the creation of a system that decides which sprite set to use based on the ground combat terrain, c) make the game significantly larger, as those hundreds of sprites will cost room, and d) add no real gameplay mechanic, because there's no camo index or anything in the game. Aliens don't care about camouflage, they either see you or they don't. If they have line of sight, they will always see you. The only gameplay difference would be that it'd be harder for you to see your own guys on the screen because they're blending in with the terrain.

I'm fond of using the (fun*usefullness)/cost coefficient. Be it more than one, you can expect your suggestion to be applied. If it's close to one, maybe it's worth to make a mod.

In this case it's far less than one, due to the high cost of changing anything related to how soldiers will look in battlescape. Even if this is a good idea and i always thought that fighting in arctica while wearing the thin uniform can be bad for your health.
