Bracnadia
Historically, the idea that you could bomb someone into surrendering failed. This idea was popular among some military between the world wars. Experience during WWII during the Blitz, the wider bombings of Germany and Japan, including fire storm bombings of their major cities, did not lead to widespread protests against the war in those nations. The idea that it would occur in the world without greater reaction like fortifying cities with major anti-aircraft equipment needs to be rethought. Melee
And yet, Japan surrendered after Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed. A belief in complete annihilation as the likely outcome of continued lack of capitulation must be instilled. I doubt aliens would have difficulty achieving this given their similar technological advantage.
Ruggerman
Japan surrendered after the Russian attacked, as they were trying to go though the Russians for peace talks, and when that was not going to work any more, the best option was to surrender to the Allies, and not just the bombs? and the Russians still have the islands that they took.
