In a moment of tactical brilliance, I ordered a Russian trooper to gun down one of the cylindrical contrivances so that he could take cover behind the cuboid gismo in the adjacent square. He was discouraged to find out that the cover system didn't grant him any bonuses for doing so. Pictured below are Corporal Young (in his Jackal armour), who's safe and sound behind cover, and squadmate Ivan, who's not. I thought I reproduced the bug twice before sending in the report, but upon revisiting the scenario, the system does seem to work as intended. My apologies for the false alarm.
