I am considering buying the game on Steam sales but I am a bit unclear how well it works on Linux. Could people running it on Linux please tell me how well it runs for you? Thank you!

Hi, I'm having issues with Xenonauts on Ubuntu. I contacted gog.com support a couple days ago but they couldn't help and gave me your e-mail instead. I'm basically getting these errors when I try to start the game by executing the "start.sh" script: [10:28 am]-[francesco@francesco-UX303UA]-[~/GOG Games/Xenonauts] $ ./start.sh Running Xenonauts libGL error: unable to load driver: i965_dri.so libGL error: driver pointer missing libGL error: failed to load driver: i965 libGL error: unable to load driver: i965_dri.so libGL error: driver pointer missing libGL error: failed to load driver: i965 libGL error: unable to load driver: swrast_dri.so libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast I will try to summarize here what I tried already. First of all I've attached a file generated with the "support/gog-system-report.sh" script. I hope it'll be useful. I installed the latest version from scratch without having to use update patches. With a "cat gameinfo" I get the following: [07:10 pm]-[francesco@francesco-UX303UA]-[~/GOG Games/Xenonauts] $ cat gameinfo Xenonauts 2.1.0.3 1.63 The gog support guy suggested I installed these packages but looks like I already had them: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install libc6:i386 libasound2:i386 libasound2-data:i386 libasound2-plugins:i386 libsdl2-2.0-0:i386 [07:09 pm]-[francesco@francesco-UX303UA]-[~] $ sudo apt-get install libc6:i386 libasound2:i386 libasound2-data:i386 libasound2-plugins:i386 libsdl2-2.0-0:i386 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Note, selecting 'libasound2-data' instead of 'libasound2-data:i386' libasound2-data is already the newest version (1.1.2-1). libasound2:i386 is already the newest version (1.1.2-1). libasound2-plugins:i386 is already the newest version (1.1.1-1ubuntu1). libsdl2-2.0-0:i386 is already the newest version (2.0.4+dfsg2-1ubuntu1). libc6:i386 is already the newest version (2.24-3ubuntu2). 0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 0 to remove and 0 not to upgrade. I did not use sudo (administrator privileges) to install the game of course as it lives in the home folder it is not necessary. You can see from the following output that the owner is the user "francesco": [07:10 pm]-[francesco@francesco-UX303UA]-[~/GOG Games/Xenonauts] $ ls -lah total 64K drwx------ 7 francesco francesco 4.0K Feb 4 09:23 ./ drwx------ 3 francesco francesco 4.0K Feb 4 09:22 ../ drwx------ 2 francesco francesco 4.0K Feb 4 09:22 docs/ drwx------ 4 francesco francesco 4.0K Feb 4 09:23 game/ -rw-r--r-- 1 francesco francesco 23 Feb 4 09:23 gameinfo drwx------ 2 francesco francesco 4.0K Feb 4 09:23 lib/ drwx------ 6 francesco francesco 4.0K Feb 4 09:23 .mojosetup/ -rwxr-xr-x 1 francesco francesco 795 Feb 4 09:23 start.sh* drwx------ 3 francesco francesco 4.0K Feb 4 09:23 support/ -rwxr-xr-x 1 francesco francesco 364 Feb 4 09:23 uninstall-Xenonauts.sh* Anything else we can try? Thanks, Francesco francesco-UX303UA_10_28_05_02_2017.html

Hey all, I've attempted to install CE via the Beta tab in Steam under properties, and the title of the game became Xenonauts [community] after its first launch but for some reason the game has remained unchanged. I've reinstalled it and tried the process again- to no avail. Any advice on how to get it to work?

Hello, I have a desktop (intel) and a notebook (nvidia, nouveau drivers). I have the Windows version (.zip) and I can play via Wine in my laptop, but not on my desktop. I suspect that is because of the intel gpu. Do you know if intel gpus are supported?

Hey, will Xenonauts support Linux on Steam? Game is available in my library but when I try to install it, it's "installed" instantly and then do not works which is a symptom of "Windows-only game incorrectly marked as supporting Linux by it's developers" I know Xeno works under wine but it's a pitty when there is native Steam client for Linux and Xenonauts do not work there... Or I am missing something and it works for others?

When I try downloading the Steam package on Linux, Steam says everythings fine, but: The download completes immediately When I try to launch the game through Steam, I get an error "Failed to start game (missing executable)." When I go poking around in the Steam install directory (~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps), a Xenonauts directory has been created, but is completely empty. IIRC from other games that have had the same issues, the indicates that a SteamApp was created for the Linux version, but no files were added to it.

Is the Linux version of the game still using Wine? Also, will the Linux version be updated frequently? Noticed on Desura that it's pretty far behind the Windows version

I am running into some weird issues. The version I get off desura is only version 14, even though it shows 17 being available, and when I try the separate download link on the forum, I can download the deb file, but it gives an error that it is not a valid archive. I am on Kubuntu 12.10, 32 bit. Anyone run into this issue?

Hello sorry to bug I couldn't find any information on the Linux build, just wandering what is happening with that right now?
-
OK, I'd like to test a few of the newly-ported Linux builds out, but I don't have Linux - so we need some volunteers! I'd like to get together 5 or 6 regular Linux users with a variety of different Linux distros so we can check the port works before we upload it on Desura. So, if you're interested in helping us, please post in the comments thread with what distro you can test it on. If nobody before you in the comments has posted up that particular distro, please drop me an email at chris@xenonauts.com and I'll hook you up with the correct build. If someone above you has said they'll test that distro, we'll be in touch with you if they're not able to test it for whatever reason!

Let Goldhawk know which Linux distros you want them to support for the game. If other - post which one!

I'll begin with quoting from Kickstarter project page: Chris, guys, just let that stuff go for the moment and concentrate on the game development. Since you began with windows only, finish that one first please. Here are my arguments for baking up my previous statement. I am successfully running Xenonauts on wine under Mac OS Lion since alfa-8.9, which i torrented (shame on me). And on the same setup via Desura preorder since 9.31. I have also successfully tested Desura+Xenonauts on both Debian and RHEL based linux distributions with Wine 1.4, on open-source drivers on ATI and nVidia GPU's. There is also CrossOver, which is easier to setup for ordinary user, again for both Mac and Linux, on which xenonauts work as well. Finally, most games ported on Mac nowadays are wrapped in one of several wrappers (Wineskin, CXE, Cider) instead of being rewritten. I don't know what you used to write the game (and i have enough stuff to do already, otherwise i'd even play with decompiler), but in case it's .NET, check the Mono-Project and see if you could run your code on the MonoFramework. P.S. If there are users here who would like to hear for specific instructions on how to set up wine on Mac in order to get Desura/Xenonauts working, and what to do next - ask here. I assume Linux dudes will know that already, but in case there's someone who does not, be my guest to ask as well

Hello all, first post. Recently discovered this project and I must say I'm more than a little excited, XCOM was (still is, actually) one of my favorite games of all time. Countless hours spent raging impotently at lobstermen and cryssalids. But I digress; How well does the current build of Xenonauts play with WINE, if at all? I'm just going to go off on a limb and assume that it is incapable of running natively on linux. Thanks, all. If positive there's the distinct possibility of a preorder to test it out myself.
