  1. It was hard to chose between the 2D and 3D but I went ahead with the 2D for readability. It really works really great in the game and I really love what you've done so far. My only gripe is the inconsistency of the 2D images. Some are plain and some have a glow effect then others have lines one them for detail. I think my favorite ones are the plain ones. For readability I think it would be cool to add a letter to the main roles the way they have in the vanilla version. Maybe something like this? Also, do you know what is the deal when changing roles it pulls what looks like a bigger version of the image and makes your image look pixelated? If you don't understand what I mean I can send you a screen shot when I get home.
  2. Yep, I have the same issue. Hopefully they'll fix that problem soon.
  3. Ah yes, you are right. I'll update the path above. Many thanks!
  4. Thanks Echo4Delta. Hopefully I can get all the male portraits by Sunday night. In my opinion it really spices up the game and it makes you get even more attached to your Xenonauts. You'll see!
  5. Here is the file I was talking about: http://www.imageshack.com/scaled/large/203/3o7f.png I made a new post on the mod section of the forum if you want more information.
  6. This is not really a mod, but I know others, like me, were having issues with the hidden movement screen getting on the way. There is nothing more annoying like getting killed and not being able to see what happened, or getting a kill off a reaction shot and you don't even know who got the lucky shot. In any case, here is the link to the transparent PNG: http://www.imageshack.com/scaled/large/203/3o7f.png First make a back-up, then replace this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Xenonauts\assets\gui\ GroundCombat\hiddenmovement\hiddenmovement.png Here is what it looks like in-game:
  7. There is nothing funny about the UFOpocalypse...so no smiles.
  8. Try replacing the "hidden movement" graphic with a semi-transparent PNG. I did that and it works great. I'll post the image I'm using on the mod section when I get home so anyone can download and use if they have the same issue.
  9. Hi billion, they are transparent PNG files. They will look just like the current ones do in-game. Please refer to this image as an example: http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2424&d=1374812639
  10. I'm shooting for the end of this weekend. All the male portraits are currently done but there are some that I'd like to re-do and some missing ones that I need to create. This thing is taking me for ever but I'm pretty proud of how they are all turning out. Currently it takes me between 30 minutes to an hour per portrait and there are currently 111 portraits. There are a few that are missing (probably a mistake by the artist) so it shows invisible characters.
  11. Nevermind! I found a workaround after a few hours of messing around. Basically under soldiernames.xml I added a new ethnicity called "cust" <Ethnicity name="cust" count="75" /> Then I went to a specific nation and added a count for the "cust" ethnicity so that it looks like this: <Nation name="American" chance="15"> <Ethnicity name="nor" chance="1" /> <Ethnicity name="med" chance="1" /> <Ethnicity name="afri" chance="1" /> <Ethnicity name="cust" chance="5" /> This way I can get a lot of diversity on the portraits!
  12. 4aces, did you get that to actually work? I've changed mine to 99 and even 100 and it doesn't even look like it makes a difference. Sometimes I'll get lucky and 1 of 12 will be a custom portrait...that's in like 1 out of 5 new games. The only way I can get custom portraits to actually show is by pushing in soldier numbers in the options menu. I'm beginning to think it's broken. I've made 111 portraits and the game only uses 20% of them
  13. That's the reason I didn't want to go too wild with the Sentinel armor. If you change it too much then it doesn't resemble the combat sprite. As far as rolled-up sleep goes, I do agree with you about it looking better but it would require a lot of work to match all the skin tones for all the portraits. Not to mention it would not match the combat sprite.
  14. Maybe, but only if it was something simple like changing the colors on the spritre…say from blue to army green. I don't think I have the patience to make big changes to all the tiny sprites for one armor. I'm actually more interested in seeing if I can make a map or two with the editor. Thanks I'll make sure to reference this post when I get to the armor. I agree about the german helmet looking better…I'll go that route when I get to that point.
  15. Thanks everyone. I'm glad you guys like it and hope you will enjoy it on your future play-troughs. I completely agree on the Wolf armor. It is definitely too oversized for the person's head. I thought about changing it and might change it eventually after I'm done with the portrait mod I'm working on. Can you point me to an image of what you are referring to? I wouldn't mind remaking the standard armor. I'm thinking about editing the Jackal armor next once I finish the portraits I'm working on but I definitely have some ideas for the predator armor. Maybe I'll skip Jackal and go for the Predator armor next.
  16. UPDATE --------------------------------------------------------- I have uploaded my version of the Sentinel armor. You can find it in the same link above. I wanted the armor to look more advanced...more metallic like it was made with some alien alloy. Here is what it looks like: Comments? Questions? Please post them here. Edit: on the images there is a little bump sticking out of the right wing. This is not on the uploaded file. It was a mistake on one of my layers on photoshop. It is fixed on the file you download but I'm too lazy to fix it on the preview images.
  17. Hi, I like that you at least used one spanish speaking country. You could try Adding perhaps Argentina. Here is an example of a "war" they were fighting around the time Xenonauts takes place: "The Falklands War (Spanish: Guerra de las Malvinas or Guerra del Atlántico Sur), also known as the Falklands Conflict or Falklands Crisis, was a 1982 war between Argentina and the United Kingdom. The conflict resulted from the long-standing dispute over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, which lie in the South Atlantic, east of Argentina." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falklands_War
  18. Thank you, kind sir. I'll download these as soon as I get home.
  19. This thread is now redundant. You can now check out the released files here : http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/11799-Jsleezy-s-Real-Armors-Compilation?p=133381#post133381 A replacement for all the armours and their respective Xenopedia images. -------------------------------------------- This mod aims to give the armors in Xenonauts a more military look. You can find the mod and download instructions here: http://www.nexusmods.com/xenonauts/mods/1/? Enjoy!
  20. Thank you. I will be posting the download for the Wolf and Buzzard suits later tonight. I wouldn't mind making the armors using different camo patterns / colors so people can use them for different occasions if there was somebody open to coding new armors into the game. I'm not a programer and don't really know much about scripting.
  21. ---------Update--------- So after some discussion with another forum user (4Aces) I've decided to look more into the quality of the portraits. I've added some effects that should slightly reduce the pixelation of my soldier faces and it should also help it blend in with the game a tiny more. Here is an example: 4Aces also brought up a point about some of the portraits being hard coded. Does anyone know how that is going to work? As it stands right now I'm able to overwrite any portrait...and it seems to be working in-game. Would I just encounter the hard-coded portraits by chance or is it something that I would have to push manually in the options menu? Disclaimer: I mean no disrespect to anyone who has paid for their portrait...this is simply just a mod for my enjoyment.
  22. Thanks! I will upload a full size PNG for the Buzzard and Wolf armor very soon so you can download it into your game and start using it.
