You are correct, Gorlom. Thank you for your response. I have tried it, several times, in 9.0, 9.1, and now 9.2, and I have got a CTD on either the ground mission loading screen, or the geoscape, every single time. Unfortunately, that is 2-3 hours of my life that I will never get back. Lol! I mean, how cool does a "heavy machine gun laser" sound? Pretty awesome to me! So, I had to try it, but I guess it just doesn't work yet. I wish someone would've told me that a long time ago. I'm just not going to play the game again until the next update comes out. When it does, I will be sure to ask FIRST if it works or not before spending the time to try it myself! -

I have also thought about the idea of "bombing" a ufo or whatever, and I think it's a cool idea, but it does present a game balance issue. So, I'm not really sure how it would work, but I think it's very interesting. -

I'm playing 9.2, and I can research, make, and equip Scatter lasers, but when I try to play with them, I always get a CTD on the ground mission loading screen. Has anyone actually playtested the Scatter laser yet, or have I just been fooling myself all this time? =) -

I have tried 9.1, but, unfortunately now there's a new CTD bug on the geoscape that I keep getting often. I can't even play long enough to even research laser weapons, let alone try them out in combat. /sadface. Oh well, I'm sure it will get fixed eventually. Out of curiosity tho', do the soldier-equipped scatter lasers actually work? Can you actually play with them? -
Same here, Gauddlike. I don't know what's wrong with my post about it. I can not access it either. Lol! But, anyway, yeah, I'm getting frequent CTD on geoscape, usually using max time speed, and usually late June/early July. Edit: Mods, please remove BOTH of my redundant threads that I started about "(v9.1) CTD geoscape". No one can read them anyway! Lol! Also, sorry about the round bracket thing. I had no idea. I have never seen that before. I will be sure to use "[]" from now on! And finally, I double posted that thread by pure accident. I think it was because it said "error" the first time I posted it, so I posted it again, thinking the first post didn't actually work, but I guess it did. Sorry again! =)

I have had CTD three times in a row on the geoscape, while using max time speed in late June/early July, with no other events taking place at the time AFAIK.

So far, I've tried v9.1 three times, and it has crashed on the geoscape while I was at max time speed, usually late June or early July, every time. There's nothing happening at the time. No UFO/Interceptors/Crash sites, etc. Just spontaneous CTD while on max speed on geoscape. Anyone else getting this? My dreams of playtesting scatter lasers are being dashed even more than before!

So, I found the reported bug about the vehicle-equipped Scatter laser crashing the game, but does the same hold true for the soldier-equipped one, or should that be working normally? I want to try it out so bad, but the dang game keeps crashing on the ground mission loading screen! Is it because I have guys equipped with Scatter lasers on my chinook? Is the Scatter laser playable at all yet, or what? Thanks in advance for the help!

Soooo, it's 2:30pm, Sunday, 3/11/12, east coast, USA. Is 9.1 out yet? How do I know if I have the "zipped" version or not? Where do I find the 9.1 when it comes out? I restarted Desura, and when I start Xenonauts, it says "9.0", so I'm guessing I don't have the new version yet. Is it out yet or what? I'm confused... =/

I know it's only the Alpha. I've just never played an Alpha before, so I'm not used to so many bugs/crashes. Anyway, I'm getting CTD consistently now. Is it because I saved with a crash site on the geoscape? Or something else? -

Sorry if this has been covered already, but I didn't find it. So, I rushed thru the game w/o saving/loading and did all the research ASAP cuz I want to try out lasers in combat. First of all, lasers work in combat, right? So, anyway, I finally saved after I researched lasers. I made some lasers, and then waited for a crash site. I got a corvette crash site, so I sent my chinook loaded with my laser guys, but on the ground mission loading screen, the game crashes after a few seconds. FWIW, I am also getting a lot of "fighter" UFOs, including one that shows up right after I launch my chinook. Is there any way to fix this game crashing? Is it because I saved? Thanks in advance for the help! Edit: Ok, I got it not to crash. I THINK it might be because I was sending an escort with my chinook, because I just sent the chinook alone with no escort, and it loaded the mission! So, I'm making progress at least! =P 2nd Edit: Hmm, well, I accidentally picked a plasma rifle up from a dead alien w/o knowing that crashes the game, so I'm back to square one. Lol! Also, I just tried sending the chinook solo again, but the game crashed again. Lame... I really like this game, but all these bugs are so frustrating. Argh!

I looked for this problem reported already, and did not find it. So, I keep getting an alien fighter craft on my radar. I keep intercepting it. Sometimes, it's visible. Sometime's, it's not. I keep shooting it down and then flying back to base. Each time, it's, apparently, a "new" ufo cuz it says UFO-12, then UFO-13, then UFO-14, etc, but they keep appearing, about 4 or 5 in a row so far. What is going on? Is this a bug, or is this normal? It's definitely weird. No other UFOs are appearing anymore. It's just "Fighter-1 appears. I shoot it down and then return to base. Then, Fighter-2 appears. I shoot it down and return to base." Over and over. Thanks in advance for help!

Ok. I finally got my machine gunners to fire and work normally (That 5-shot burst is SAH-WEET!). For me, it appears to be tied to what armor they are wearing. If they are wearing Jackal armor, they work fine. If they are wearing basic armor, they freeze up when I try to fire, or they are frozen from the start. It appears to be the same case for shotguns as well. -
Cool. FWIW, I played that campaign a little bit more, and went on a large UFO crash mission, which DID end up giving me "UFO Navigation" as a research option, but after I researched it, I was left with no other options again. =( So, I have since started my campaign over again, and I'm gonna try not to save/load at all this time! =P

Shotgun soldiers will not move.

Ok. I discovered that the shotgun soldiers are only frozen if I switch them into basic armor. If I leave them in jackal armor, then they seem to work normally. They can move and shoot in jackal armor. I started a mission with one shotgunner in basic armor and one in jackal, and the basic guy was frozen AND invisible, but the jackal guy was fine. So...that's what I got so far! -

I KNEW it! Lol! That would be kind of cool tho'. I definitely like the idea of some sort of stealth/camo/cloaking mechanism. But, anyway, is there any way to fix this weird frozen shotgun guy bug? -
I apologize if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find it. This is weird, because I'm pretty sure I have played with shotgun soldiers before with no problems, but now, my shotgun guys will not move. It's like their feet are glued to the floor of the Chinook from the start of the mission. When I double-click a location for them to move to, it will usually make the walking sound, but they never move. It doesn't appear to be a lag issue. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! P.S. Oh OH! And one of my two shotgunners on the last mission that I played was invisible as well if that helps.

No, he was not crouching. Altho', I have not tried to fire while crouched. Maybe that would work? Any other advice? Anyone? Bueller? -
First of all, I apologize if there's an answer to this somewhere, but I looked, and didn't see it. I was super excited to see machine guns in the game, and quickly equipped one of my soldiers to use it for the next mission. However, when I click to fire at the alien with the machine gun, nothing happens. Not only does the gun not shoot, but it actually causes the machine gun-equipped soldier to freeze, and I am unable to get him to do anything for the rest of the mission. This is a total bummer, of course. So, is there anyway to fix it? Thank you!

Thx for the response, NoI, but I can not seem to find any helpful info on this problem. I looked in the bug report forum, but perhaps I missed it. Will u or someone else post the link to the correct thread please? Thank you!
