  1. I have it too but if this is the case am now beginning to regret having paid a little extra. I don't have a whole lot of money to spend but usually like to give my support to those with good intentions and who I think have potential for something that isn't so popular but if it means being last on the list or maybe not at all well then it would appear I've been taken for. Wish I had went with standard. Yeah, I paid extra so the game will come out better to benefit some cheap, discontented punk who paid $10 less. I can see it coming out first in different regions though and yes Ausie always gets their games at least a day latter, so seems fair.
  2. We're not talking about a few hours don't you know what's going on here many of us still haven't received the update. I have given more money in support of this project-where else are we going to find "an X-com like game"- in hope that it will enable them to do an even better job and that they may succeed, nevertheless, I am not here to be a toady.
  3. No, I don't think that is smart just because you say so. The supporters giving more money are the ones he wants to take care of first and you sound a bit foolish as if you'd be happy if he took all your money and gave you nothing in return so he could better promote his game and make more money so you could say "cool he was smart hes making lots of money and that's all one should do and I supported him in this." Problem with so many products -the quality is crap- and many don't care they just want to blindly feed the businesses lots of money and help them be successful. Anyways, Chris, never implied that he intentionally gave the majority and the new customers the download first because he thought it was good for business as you are implying. He wrote that it just happened that way and that maybe he should have done it the other way. And yes its Desura's fault. Maybe they will wake up tomorrow sometime and validate it for our updates and maybe they should look into all the red tape crap or just skip the dam validation process especially since they can't seem to manage it!
  4. So far I am not too impressed with Desura. My first time using them is with Xenonauts. Seems as though they are a bunch of young people and more into partying then getting their business off to a good start. I may be wrong and at least we got to download the game from them, but I can't wait to put this game on steam which has been on my hard drive for some time and had very little problems with them, they are quick and reliable non interfering and have excellent deals-even on indie games.
  5. I've been meaning to ask you where did you get that picture for you Avatar? Did you like Deus Ex Human revolution? Did you like it as much as the original?
  6. I also had a crash when selecting the soldier tab in the menu with v8.1. Its was after I had build a new base in Africa.
  7. I've got to say though at times I have the feeling that if all goes well with your game I will be playing it long after skyrim is all played out and at times I find I am more eager to load Xenonauts than even skyrim.
  8. Randomized maps in the current build that sounds good. Haven't really had a chance to try it-will soon though. How about 8.01 and when research tree is added 8.1, well if you added randomized maps then yeah 8.1. It was just that we were expecting the research tree and the other features. How was the wedding? (I hate weddings, I'll use any excuse so as not to attend one) Hope you enjoyed it. Have you had a chance to play any Skyrim? You need to, for that the research tree can wait:)
  9. So, basically we got a patch called 8.1 that is really 8.0 to fix the bugs so that we could have some of the features back that we had in 7.5.1 and so that 8.0 would work the way it was supposed. But research tree and new land battle maps randomly generated and a few other features that were supposed to be in the 8.1 never made it. Yes, it was a hot fix that was supposed to come out before Friday. So, maybe in the next update we will see the new maps or a research tree.
  10. random maps which corresponding to the location, just what I want. thanks for the reply.
  11. I'm just wondering how are the land combat maps rendered. Are they made as randomly generated towns and set pieces or are there certain maps used always for certain regions? Seems from my limited experience with the game that the latter is true. I played twice and came up with the exact same map when the crash site was in the USA. Even the enemy seemed to be in the same place. I know the game is still no where near finished and you have certain limitations with what you are working with but I'd love to know if this game engine will use a random map generator. Also does the combat run with its own tactical AI or are they scripted triggers where the computer enemy is always in a certain location to start with on a given map and reacts to basic triggers say when attacked in expectation of how the human opponent will operate and has a set of scripts on how to counter or defend. battlefront uses these on their CM2 engine. Also, is their a way I can save my game? Did I miss something? I know its still in beta.
  12. I don't like ARMA because I want feel like I'm in real combat. It's just the more realistic a game the more detail the depth and balance not to mention the huge amount of content and the size of the map, the power of the editor. I guess I can understand your position though. Though there are quite a few vets who frequent the ARMA forums
  13. That's mostly true for me too. I would say I play about an hour a day sometimes not at all. Though I buy and play a lot of different games and tonight I'd say I played a good two and a half hours or so. As for BF3 I think I'll skip it. I'd prefer ARMA 2. No battlefield and COD just aren't realistic enough and don't have the tactics and detail that ARMA does you basically rely on speed for those games. As for Deus ex 3 well I loved the original and hated the second one but three in my opinion was just ok and didn't reach the level that DE1 did its hardly worth playing over again. Portal 2 was good but a little overrated I think. Just a puzzle game-which there were plenty of in the all the Half-life games- seems that everyone went nuts over Portal 2 when it came out and thought it should be game of the year though after a month or so no one even wanted to talk about it any more. Hah, and The Witcher 2 I never finished and don't really care to. I think they should have put it on the console first. Its to much of an action game and not enough of an RPG, Also,I don't like the main character that I'm stuck with and I thought the first one was actually better. As for Arkham asylum great game almost perfect and wait till you try arkham city what a masterpiece of a game even if you don't care for that action adventure genera. I was just playing Arkham city. It is amazing the voice acting the many facets of gameplay the way it feels the animations the story the characters. And I don't even care about the original batman or comic adventure It just a very well crafted game though n though. As for skyrim I have been waiting so long of this! I hope it lives up to the greatness of the other Elder scrolls. That game has been my most anticipated for this year. Then again there have been so many titles ruined lately, even Civilization. I hope they don't mess up with it.
  14. I'm wondering do you play video games? If so what was the last good game you played and when was the last time you played it? what are some of you favorites? I know I should assume just because you are a game developer you play video games or have played them a lot in the past and are a big fan of certain ones, but this is not always the case. Though usually the games that are deep and well done and have a certain heart felt genuineness about them are made by developers who have a passion for video games and particularly the type they are working on.
  15. I just want to know if the soft launch ever happened over the weekend. you see I've been without power and internet since Saturday due to a sever storm in my area. So did I miss it or will it be in to weeks as the official launch?
  16. Ok, I guess I know what you mean. Its just not a big official promotional launch. Quick and short for those already in the know. Is that it? Needless to say I would very much appreciate that if you can do it. I am looking forward to this game in what ever state its in and can hardly wait.
  17. what does soft launch mean? Limited data like a demo, an older version of the beta, or just you will be taking only a few pre-orders on a first come first serve basis.
