Phenakist
I have looked through the sticky notes to see if I have missed anything, but I don't seem to see anything about it. I want to make some new tiles using blender to 3d model the object, and then turn it into a sprite. The two things I want to know are :- - What angle is the xenonauts isometric camera set to? - What is the pixel count of an individual tile
KevinHann
Apologies for spamming you thread but do you mean you are looking into adding a new fully functional tileset to the game?
Phenakist
My aim is to make new tiles from scratch, for example doors, vehicles, props to hide behind for either replacements or modding purposes.
KevinHann
Ah, I see, I should have connected this with kabill's thread - it's still good news and thank you for looking into it! I hope you guys pick the right type of props to add a more immersive dogfight feel to the UFO designs.
thixotrop
If I would be better in blender I would do props myself. The only thing I guess will be something to babble about is the paint-over, so that it fits to the style of the game. I don't know if there exist some guideline for this. Btw.: Don't know if you have seen this here and here.

In terms of the size of the tiles, the images for the ground tiles (which fit exactly within one map-tile) are 96x48 if that's useful? Otherwise, I don't know. No idea about the camera angle. Phenakist
Yea I noticed in the files 96x48 is one of the densities used, but for some tiles it didn't even fill that so it's some other range, unless I am missing something Also thanks thixotrop, I left him a message, to see how he did it EDIT :- Worked out how to do it, did some online research about isometric. Not great, but it was just a test to see if I was doing it right Edited June 26, 2014 by Phenakist
Phenakist
Spent some time on making a simple door, The perspective to me looks just like the one in xenonauts, followed a guide on isometric angles etc. Here's a couple pictures. The shading and style doesn't exactly match xenonauts, but that will come with time (hopefully) Edited June 26, 2014 by Phenakist
KevinHann
That's a pretty decent starting point, mate!
