Avesenchai
When I swap my gun out for a medkit everything works fine... right up until I try to switch back to the gun. Then I can't re-equip the gun for the rest of the mission, and my soldier has to use a grenade or something instead.
Lobster_Man
Workaround: put medkit in backpack, gun on ground then equip.
superbob
This seems to be related to the new weight limit system. Basically, similarly to the loadout screen, you can't drop any items in the inventory once the soldier has exceeded the new weight limit. Swapping weapons from backpack works (weapon in hands<->weapon in backpack) but it only works one way for items (weapon in hands<->item in backpack) - you can't swap the item back into the backpack, also dropping the item on the ground will only let you equip the weapon if it reduces the carried weight below the new weight limit. Note that it is also impossible to manually reload weapons in battlescape within inventory screen when the soldier exceeds the new weight limit. Tested by trying to swap explosive/stun rocket ammo. (also, stun rockets still suck ). Proper workaround: keep dropping items until the soldier no longer exceeds the new weight limit, then you can equip the weapon again. Avesenchai
Played around with this a bit more. I think the weapon is being double-counted for purposes of the new weight limit. That's why you need to drop your weapon on the ground and then equip it straight from the ground rather than going from ground to backpack to hands. Aaron
We'll get this looked at - you should not actually be prevented from picking things up if you go over your weight capacity, you will just have massive AP penalties if you do. There is also some weird stuff with swapping items in general. Edited October 28, 2013 by Aaron
