  1. Haven't played or logged in here in a looong time. This is excellent news, and the original game is nice and polished now. Keep up the great work!
  2. Awesome, finally out of beta! GJ guys, wish I'd seen this Friday so I could've wasted my whole weekend...
  3. Okay, so I fired up the new 20.7, sped the time up and a light scout shows up. I send a squadron of my two starter condors to intercept. After chasing it in circles and burning most of my fuel, the scout makes a 180 degree turn and I'm in business. Once my planes close to firing range, I notice condor 2 isn't facing the UFO, but is instead heading for the dotted line in front of the UFO. I know this is normal at longer distances, but the UFO is close enough to be in C2's firing arc (if it was going in the right direction). Both of my condors shoot their missiles correctly (and miss, I forgot to stutter the launches), but condor 2 unloads all cannon ammo at the dotted line instead of the ufo. I clicked on Condor 2 and then clicked on the UFO (to manually target) several times while it was firing, but it would only target and fire at the UFO's trajectory. Also, Condor 1 ran out of fuel well before 2 (2 had about 14% left), which I think is strange since they left as a single unit squadron and should have burned the same amount of fuel. I doubt it matters, but before my squadron engaged the target, 2 more light scouts showed up and one landed, and my Charlie was enroute to the landing site when this strange air battle took place.
  4. I haven't played much since I finished v19 stable. I've tinkered around with a couple of the early v20 experimentals, but never made it much farther than laser tech, as I've been waiting on the final release. Basically I just wanted to add my $.02 that some of these new changes I'm reading for v6 are rather alarming. Ground combat is definitely the meat of the game and should not be penalized in favor of airstrikes, period. These should only be for lazy/jaded (mission repetition) players or for those crash sites you just couldn't make it to, and I thought that's what the original intentions were. The Condor nerfing also seems extremely harsh. I'm throwing my hat in with the "don't let them equip later weapons" solution. I never used (abused?) them in the mid to late game anyway, as I personally love corsairs and upgraded ASAP. The added difficulty to air combat I noticed in the early v20 builds combined with this make me wonder if the early game can even be any fun to play at all at this point. Which at the end of the day is what this game is supposed to be. Fun. I know Xcom is a bit of a masochistic game, but I think the difficulty thing is going a bit too far now.
  5. Just move your save files somewhere, reinstall, then move them back. No need to start over (unless your saves are somehow corrupted too).
  6. Right now at least, aliens automatically turn towards the closest soldier. I think someone said they could "hear" you approaching and that's why they turn. It may not seem fair, but it can easily be abused in your favor. Try taking a soldier and putting him against the side of a ufo, then open the door with another...
  7. +1 for the music, I think it's perfect. Subtle, moody and low key, just like the original. Concerning the melee weapons, I'm assuming he means like the ones on TFTD. They were big rotating drills, and were the only effective way to kill lobstermen on the higher difficulties (if you were lucky enough to get a calcinite). They would chew through any foe you threw at them, IF you could get close enough....(loved the tension it created) Hell, +1 for melee weapons also.
  8. Same here Tik. I'm sure there are dozens of other play-styles that utilize transferring personnel. I mean, why would a company fire 15-30 loyal scientists and hire untested new ones when they can just fly them to the other base on one of their own aircraft?
  9. I had to capture 2 battleships before I could build one, the first to research and the second used to manufacture the fury. I'm not sure where you can check how many you have, but I had like 5 cores before I could get around to building one so it was no problem.
  10. Just finished it; worked fine for me. Killed the lone prat, then warped all troops out the back of the final room and got the mission successful screen. Suggestion: Final mission should be all praetors.
  11. I was wondering about #6 also. The first time I noticed it, I was like "Cool, I can do 2 missions now in 1 trip for extra $$$$." I changed my dropship's target to the UFO, cleared the site, and was very surprised when this counted as completing the terror mission (even though I technically didn't even go there). I must say, that as bad as the terror missions are, I will usually quite happily retarget the landed UFO and take the win that way. At least I can get my men out of the ship and into some kind of position before a dozen Seb. elites and 3 giant hover discs converge on my poor troops simultaneously.
  12. Same question, but with scientists/engineers rather than soldiers. Is there a way to transfer them? Because I'm out about $1 million by having to sack/rehire personnel after assuming I could transfer them. If not I seriously hope this will make it into the final game.
  13. Same here, too. Really hard to reproduce, only happened to me ~3 times in 50 hrs. of gameplay. Ondie described it perfect, sometimes after going to various tabs in base management, when you click the shield tab, instant CTD. I normally save now before clicking the shield. v19 newest experimental (can't remember exact version # right now)
  14. I'm on v19 experimental, same bug as above (on my first large base). Cannot get past deployment without freeze. I tried reloading several times, positioning different during deployment, but no luck. I'm at work now so I'll try the suggestions also and report back.
  15. I haven't done a base defense yet, but I have had a similar bug 3-4 times. It usually happens on terror missions after I load a save file, but sometimes certain aliens (discs and reapers, the secondary species) will disappear. The alien is still there, and my soldiers can see him, but all I can see is a slight shadow wherever he is standing. I can target and kill normally, and they always reappear when they die. Not sure if this is the same problem you're having, because if you checked the whole base at least one of your soldiers should have seen it (the alien in sight icon still appears normally on the right side of screen). Something to consider though.
  16. I second that. I'm an old TFTD guy, finally beat it just last year. Then I bought Xcom EU, and while I really loved it also, it was a different beast than what I was used to and I wanted something more like the old ones. I luckily read a random comment on gamespot recommending xenonauts to someone else who didn't like EU. I watched about 30 mins. of gameplay videos and immediately sent you guys $20. THIS is the true sequel I've been looking for, and the game plays awesome (I'm playing experimental build with almost no crashes in 27 hrs). Most of the minor changes you guys made are most welcome. Thanks guys, can't wait for the final version.
