imperialus
So right now there is the option for 'basic training' in the game and presumably there are going to be more options in the future for stuff like psi technology and the like, but I'm not sure if there are going to be other training options as well. If so, I might put forward the suggestion that the different training types have various 'side effects' that would force players to pick the ones that best suit individual soldiers. For example (and just using X-Com aliens here) after researching a Muton corpse you could subject your soldiers to alien muscle grafting. This would increase their strength significantly, but at a cost of reduced psi strength and reactions. Another example might be synapse enhancement where a soldiers accuracy and reactions are increased, but at a cost in strength or health. Fish Of Doom
IMO, big strength increases should reduce endurance (do we even have endurance in-game? total memory fail here ) and vice versa (same way it works IRL), so maybe you could do a 1-3 point increase in both, but training options that give 4-6 in either don't give benefits in the other, and 7-9 increases give you a -1, etc. another interesting way to implement something like this would be to apply it to bravery and reactions, meaning, you can train both mildly, but if you do specialized training to make your guys a lot braver (again, say, 7-9 point increases), they get less twitchy and lose a point or two of reactions, and vice-versa as heavy reaction training makes them more deliberate as they wait for things to react to. thoughts? anotherdevil
ok a couple of things: humans don't get psi-skills cybernetics, alien grafting, etc is out but as for the training, perhaps stat based traingin, with the positives or negatives could be good. I think training isn't supposed to be a big part of the game
Sathra
There's also no endurance stat (I'm assuming you mean something like X-com's 'Energy' stat). Mainly because its boring. Chris has mentioned that in all likelihood the only training will be the 'Intro Courses' (the auto-promotes to Corporal with some minor stat increases). There isn't really enough other stuff to put as a course to be worth adding. Alien autopsies will give global damage bonuses against that race in ground combat. anotherdevil
and the abilility to contain that alien in alien containment. Is that still getting put in there?
Sathra
No idea. Not sure if that's going to be added, but Chris liked the idea.
