Can't unlock gauss cannon without laser cannon? Kinda goofy. Looks like a bug.

I seem to have a similar issue. I took a screenshot of the error message but (being old and senile) don't know how to get it to a URL. Note that this did NOT crash the game, It just made me lose since I didn't have a chance against the more advanced UFOs.

Anyway, I also skipped the laser research but did the research for the Gauss Cannon. When I hit "Start Production", the following message showed up on the screen:

assets\assets\xenonauts\template\strategy\projects\engineering\aircraft_cannon_tier2.json in state UFO destroyed

Hello Kent, thanks for telling us what happened.

It would help us a lot if you can provide the save file for the campaign where this happened. This will allow us to directly investigate the cause for the error. It also provides the information we need when reproducing the bug (what version of the game you're running, what kind of error it is, etc.)

To provide the relevant save file for us. You can do the following steps:
1. Load the campaign wherein you encountered the error

2. Save the campaign and name it in a way that makes it easy for you to remember.

3. Look for the save, your save files are located in one of the save folders in Documents/My Games/Xenonauts 2/Saves

4. Make a reply on this thread

5. Drag and drop the save file you've named(which comes in a .json format) to the post you're making, the file should attach on its own. Like so

6. Submit reply

The bug has been fixed on the experimental branches, which you can switch to it if you want by following the instructions here
Note that this will break your saves, and the experimental branch has more bugs because this is where we test new features before releasing it into the Stable branch.
