V26.3 Experimental Released (Closed Beta)

I was hoping V26.2 would be the last hotfix for V26, but people have found quite a few bugs - including a crash that happens often enough that we decided another hotfix would be needed after all. Fingers crossed this is actually the last hotfix now.

If you own the game you'll need to be on the Experimental Branch to access the build, but if you're part of our Steam Playtest you'll get the update without needing to switch branch. This update does not break saves.

Gameplay Changes:

  • Fixed an issue where Eternals were not spawning on Psyon or Sebillian battleship UFOs, only Wraith battleships.
  • Grenades now cost 51% TU to throw, rather than a flat 25 TU (which means suppressed units cannot throw grenades). They also now weigh 6 rather than 5.
  • Radars now cost $400k rather than $500k.
  • Armour upgrade projects now require the previous tier of armour upgrade to have been completed first.
  • Autopsies now also unlock off captured aliens, meaning you're not penalised for capturing rather than killing the first alien of a particular type you encounter.
  • You can no longer avoid a base defence mission just by pressing Esc to close the "your base is under attack" Geoscape popup.

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed a crash if you tried to activate the medikit heal cursor while not on the ground level of a map.
  • Fixed the Alenium Torpedo project incorrectly producing Alenium Missiles instead.
  • Fixed units being able to shoot through floors on alien base missions if they had been damaged (e.g. by explosives).
  • Reapers now correctly spawn from Zombies that are killed.
  • Tooltips on the soldier equip Armour dropdown no longer spawn on top of the dropdown list itself, and now spawn to the right.
  • Interceptor UFO now spawns the correct datacore, and so will unlock the appropriate Xenopedia entry.
  • Added a proper silhouette for the Medikit and Assault Shield so they don't look like rifles in the minitabs at the top of the screen.
  • Laser LMG fire modes are now in the correct order.
  • Cyberdrone no longer drops a huge white object on the ground when destroyed.
  • The Stealthsuit stealth effect now also covers the jetpack if that is equipped.
  • Fixed a bug where the Armory panel on the Soldier Equip screen would sometimes show all items in a single list, including armour and other items that are not intended to be displayed.
  • Fixed the UFO "take and hold" victory condition occasionally being met early on tropical missions.
  • Fixed female soldiers with Stealthsuit and jetpack not finding the correct model.
