WorstWizard
I do not wish to spark discussion about platform support and such. I just wish to notify the few people to whom it is relevant, that the current build (closed beta VI) runs out-of-the-box using Proton (3.7-8) on Steam. While I haven't compared the performance to running normally yet, so far it feels like it runs perfectly. Only issue I have come upon thus far, is that zooming in the Geoscape is... Odd. Seems like it's not registering the input most of the time, so you have to scroll for a little while before you get anywhere. Including the issue here since it's likely caused by compatibility. Gijs-Jan
Thanks for trying out the build on Linux! I suspect issues, if any, are mostly in Ground Combat with regards to shaders. Feel free to report any issues in either this thread, so we can collate them, or through the F12 bug report but make sure to mention you run on Linux for custom bug reports. Having said that officially we won't support a Linux build at this moment. Unofficially I'll keep an eye on this thread and those reports. Chris
Yup, Linux isn't officially supported yet and we're not going to look into it for a few months yet - but it's certainly good to know that the game already works well via Proton. Thanks for letting us know!
barba_q
No matter what graphical setup I'm trying, every character model is invisible and there are helmets, hair and guns running around. See attachments. output_log.txt
Chris
Hmm, that's not something I've ever seen before. Do you know how to validate your files in Steam? If so, would you mind doing that to see if it's just a file that hasn't been downloaded properly?
barba_q
Can you move this to that linux post real quick? I meant to reply there with this issue :/ Validating doesn't help. Guess it's bad lux for tux
Chris
Ah, so this is on Linux? That'll probably explain why I've never seen this bug before
jinjifra
Did you have to do anything to get it to run on proton? I tried and the program just stalled out
