Turns hang, then saves gone

Hi,

first the alien turns started hanging on me during a carrier recover mission. I was playing with the latest community edition. So after 30 minutes of failing troubleshoot, I decided to opt out of CE and return to the base game. But now the game won't recognize my saves. I point it to the save game location but I still can't load my saves ingame.

Help would be appreciated. I'm going to sleep now with frustration in my stomach because of this crap.

Reinstalling XCE helped with both problems. Seems if you tinker too much with config files on the same mission, you might corrupt your saves at some point.
