Phenakist
I change my command line on a shortcut to ''xenonauts.exe'' -quickbattle, but this does nothing. Can anybody talk me through the process so I can figure out what I am missing?
kabill
What I did to make this work was simply create a shortcut in the Xenonauts folder to the game, opened up "properties" for the shortcut, then changed the file path so that it has -quickbattle at the end. I think that's all I did, anyway, and it worked fine.
Jace11
run it from shortcut with -quickbattle Go new game, Place base Quickbattle should start at this point.... Even then there are issues, sometimes the aliens I entered into levelsetupquick. dont load, map is correct though.
kabill
Yeah, I've had issues getting the aliens to load properly sometimes, too. Not sure whether it's a random bug or if it's something I've entered in wrong.
Phenakist
after some work i finally managed to get it working. Now that I have it working I have discovered a new problem. None of my objects have any tile consumption, or in otherwords. EVERYTHING can be walked over, walls, cars, props. But the weird thing is, even normal objects like vanilla cars from the xenonauts game, also don't take up any space. Is there a file or two I am missing that would cause this? KevinHann
I think that might be caused by layers (someone has to confirm though) - did you paint everything on layer 0?
Phenakist
I think that might be caused by layers (someone has to confirm though) - did you paint everything on layer 0? I am 99% certain everything is on layer 0 I will change that and keep you updated to see if it's a fix! thanks for the tip
Phenakist
I have been looking at original xenonaut map files, and it appears that building on layer 0 is fine, probably not what is causing the issue.
kabill
It's almost certainly going to be a layering issue (note that layers aren't the same as levels; is that what you checked?). If you look near the paint tile/clear buttons, you'll see an option to change the layer that things are painted on. You want to use layer 0 for ground tiles, and layer 1 for everything else. Note that there's no way to change the layer a tile is painted with after you've done it; the only way to solve that is to delete it and repaint on the correct layer. Phenakist
Thanks Kabill, I will try that now. On a side note, this damn...editor..
kabill
It's not that bad once you know what you'e doing. (Also, if it's any consolation, when I started mapping I had to completely remake a large number of submaps for my random map project as a result of layering issues). Phenakist
I can imagine, I had the editor crash upon me lots of times, there are certain actions it just doesn't like! I semi fixed the problem with the solution of layering. Will have to make a couple real test maps with my assets to definitively know they all work as intended. Right now im burned out, need a couple hours away from it
Phenakist
Got it working, thanks guys! Should have the updated tileset released in the next couple days, along side a couple submaps and maybe a full map if I have time
