  1. It's especially jarring when your commander-rank sniper manages to one-shot-kill your own guys this way. Sometimes when they're not even in the line of fire. I had a reaper run up to one of my shield-guys, and my sniper fired a shot at something like a 45 degree angle off hitting the reaper, scoring a perfect instant kill on my own vehicle instead. Though I guess it was appropriate, considering his nickname was Commander Teamkill... after an earlier incident.
  2. Yeah, I have this problem as well. Luckily my game isn't ironman, and I saved before launching the mission. Eventually my soldiers all ran out of ammo from killing reapers, and fell over dead. They sure took out a lot of reapers, though.
  3. Hm, I just finished the game, and I didn't even know that these existed. So I must agree that they do come way too late.
  4. The situation: My A-team is situated in Europe, and just came back from a rather tiring mission that left most of them wounded, just as I get the notification that Syndey is under alien attack. With no other choice, I send my B-team, situated out of North America, down there to sort things out. Things go poorly. While the A team is all kitted out in fancy wolf armor and laser weapons, the B team is running around in basic equipment. Money is short, you know? A few moments in, half the team is dead or dying at the hands of androns too strong for our puny basic ballistic weapons to handle with any reliability. Every android absorbs several hails of bullets before going down, and things aren't going well. But one man was up to the task. His first name forgotten, he was only known as Mr. Heavy Weapons. While everyone else was either paralyzed with fear, dropping their weapons and running around in a wild panic, or crouched behind cover taking ineffective pot-shots at the androids as plasma flew all around them, Mr Heavy Weapons took a different approach. He flanked the main android force, and hit them in the back. Where three men were perviously needed to take one down, he cut them down with ease using his heavy machinegun. One android fell. Two. Three. Four! Five! With the aid of the few mentally recovering xenonauts left, and some assistance from local forces, all the androids but one had been destroyed. Only three men remained standing: Mr Heavy Weapons, and two shocked privates. They identified the andriod's location in a local home, seeing it shooting at them from the window as they move into position to take it out. The android runs to hide somewhere in the house, and our heroes take up position at the front door, ready to kick it down and destroy the alien invader in just a moment. Then, without any warning, a plasma round pierces straight through the door and instantly kills Mr. Heavy Weapons. Luckily, the two rookies manage to keep their composure, and burst through the door to gun down his killer with burst fire at point-blank range, but it was too late to save him. RIP Mr. Heavy Weapons. The city of Sydney, and all of earth, owe you a great thanks. There were only 2 survivors that day. [Yes, it did kill my guy by shooting him through a closed door. I was pretty irritated when it happened, but that's life I guess. Or death, as it were.]
