10 Good
  1. They have a much much bigger spread and they deal stun as well as explosive damage. The nades will ruin my squads...
  2. Hmm all my initial base attacks were won with heavy explosives and tanks with laser cannons... if I didn't scratch my base into the ground I doubt the aliens could have done anything. Last time I turtled it just left me covering 4 exits with no troops able to flank. Not enough good guns (now I have lots of spare stuff though)
  3. The aliens were probably behind cover. Maybe even two lots. There are ways and means to destroy that cover...
  4. I like the sound of that. Big time. Now all we need is to let people in predator armour rip alien's heads off with their gloved hands (not serious)
  5. Ahh. Cheers! Will help me use the foxtrot as bait once it fires its missiles.
  6. Ah my predator guys are unstoppable now I have four of em. They march forwards with electro grenades under a cover of smoke, armed with machine guns for any close encounters. They stun the reptillian officers and nick their heavy plasmas. Then, the killing begins.
  7. How do you drop to minimum speed? As far as I was aware there was only the default speed + the afterburners.
  8. My careful planning, all for naught. Still as disappointed as I am I won't have the turkey shoot I hoped for, it's definitely more challenging to be attacked from all sides and means I won't be treating base attacks like training academies.
  9. I used to play the first few missions of OG x-com in a ridiculous way. Only had a couple of laser rifles so I would throw guns up and down the line, or if a guy was clearly going to die he'd throw it back to the rest of the squad. Good times. Main thing I miss though is suicide bombers - set the timers, run into the middle of em.
  10. Quick question here as it seems kind of appropriate - are the entry points for the aliens predefined ala the original X-Com? I remember that in the old game, the access lift and the hangars were where the sectoid menace entered the base. Originally I thought that was the case in Xenonauts too (and have certainly built my base as such) but last time I got attacked, they came in through a store room. And the hangars. They were coming out of the freaking walls man
  11. Dont take away my indestructible dropship. It's the only thing keeping those guys alive in the mass siege that Terror Attacks turn in to.
  12. I cycle my first 20 troops through missions and then ship them off in groups of 5-10 to other bases. Main base stays the hub for everything and everything else gets the outmoded tech pawned off on them... god help them when the aliens attack but at least they'll have more than strong language.
  13. Hmm I only have the heavy laser at the moment and it's not so good. Finding my predator armour (one guy so far, resources are tight!) is better used as a grenade launcher.
  14. The inquest into the needless deaths of most of Able Squad came to the same conclusion. The lab technicians who promoted the development of the electroshock grenade have been conscripted as stun jockeys. Though they will not benefit from the devices that they birthed, out of respect to the six brave men and women who were mercilessly gunned down by their android foes.
  15. Electroshock grenades are doing the job very very nicely now. However they don't do anything against the Autons. I thought they were supposed to double as EMP grenades? A big clustered mass took 6 of them and came out smiling. I reloaded, threw 4 normal nades in and walked through the scattered circuitry. I wonder if it is because electroshock do stun damage + autons dont seem to be stunnable?
