  1. The promotion to corporal gets bonus points, I'm not sure of the numbers. Reflexes are boosted by making reflex checks whether they fire or not.
  2. I generally keep just enough for one full dropship of healthy soldiers, plus however many are in the medbay.
  3. LW also has the joy of things like the terror mission where I moved my entire squad three spaces forward from the LZ and ended turn. Then I watched a pack of chrysallids, a cyberdisk pack, a trio of beserkers, and a pack of floaters all activate during the first AI turn.
  4. You don't need to install any mods, but if you want to there are a bunch on the modding subforum here.
  5. It's intended to be the ultimate Kill Everything craft, but it really has no purpose because by the time you get it, you are already killing Battleships.
  6. Pretty much. Battleships are faster than Foxtrots by enough that catching them is a bit of a crapshoot. But you can easily have a bunch of Marauders built before they show up.
  7. Wow, I did not know that. Neat to know.
  8. Q rolls left and E rolls right, both relative to the plane's current direction of travel.
  9. Weird, it seems to work fine for me.
  10. Hey guys, I finally got my stuff together and put together an air combat tutorial video. I cover basic controls and tactics, how the autoresolve works, and some demonstrations of normal air combat engagements. [video=youtube_share;LEpjEwr6Bdg] And here's my older Condor video with no commentary, but several all Condor engagements versus various UFOs.
  11. In some ways the accidental activation problem is worse though, because (especially on higher difficulty) there are even more aliens on the maps. It's a great mod overall, but would be way better with the ability to add new maps to balance for the increased alien spawns. I just wish they had come up with a better way of implementing the fatigue system, because it is just so arbitrary to shut a soldier down for a week because they went on a combat op.
  12. Hey all, I'm finally looking to do an air combat tutorial video and I was wondering if anyone could send me a non-ironman save game that has at least Alenium explosives unlocked and preferably either a Corsair or the ability to make one. Either post a link here, shoot me a PM, or email it to plumrbob at yahoo.com Thanks.
  13. The cap is double that region's starting funding.
  14. Assuming your tech level is up to par, one battery does enough damage to 1 shot the relevant ship that does base assaults. But they actually have 50% accuracy, so if you build them I suggest at least 3 (4-5 would be better).
  15. Terror missions also give a relations boost for successful completion. I believe alien bases do as well, but I'm not completely certain on that.
  16. You can control which directions your planes roll, there are separate hotkeys for rolling right and left.
  17. Have fun catching Cruisers and Carriers with Condors... it might be viable on lower difficulty, but their speed and range is way too weak for reliable intercepts on veteran/insane.
  18. Grenades and explode at turn end because there were too many complaints about troops blowing themselves up with instant trigger grenades.
  19. The problem with a truly realistic 2D map is that it would only appeal the the absolute most hardcore strategy gamers, and everyone else would find it confusing because it's a lot less intuitive than what is in the game now.
  20. You pretty much need three radars in it if you build a base in the middle east/egypt, it's worth too much coverage area to not do so. Your aircraft is a little light, but probably manageable (although your Condors are about to be useless for anything other than air superiority flights). You may have slightly overbuilt scientists, but that shouldn't really be a big issue. The first couple months you probably want to focus on maximizing your radar coverage. @axiar - While similar, this game is different than XCOM. If you play exactly like XCOM, you will struggle and possibly fail. It's a different game that requires a different strategy. There are many reasonable criticisms you can point at this game, but complaining it's not identical to XCOM is one of the more silly ones.
  21. You have choices when it comes to economic management, and the OG's economy has been pretty soundly criticized on these boards. The original XCOM went too far with money being trivial and making the funding nations completely meaningless, Xenonauts leans a bit too far in the opposite direction.
  22. Yes, you'll see a damage increase. Only a few aliens have armor, and the ones that do all have identical values versus kinetic and energy.
  23. They never claimed it was a reproduction, just heavily inspired by it.
  24. From a radar coverage perspective, I wish the Geoscape used a spherical globe. But scrolling around the world to select UFOs/crash sites late game would really get annoying, so I'm not entirely convinced it would end up better in the end. A flat map that somehow allowed radar to wrap around would be best, although probably a huge technical challenge (even for the CE team).
