10 Good
  1. Some voices I like, like the Kohr-Ah, the Thraddash (Russian whackos), the Yehat (a bit silly, a bit awesome to sound Scottish), the Ilwrath ... Some others are flat out horrible, like the Utwig. The Kzer-za are also so drowsy and sleepy, but that's ok, it's supposed to be the talking pet's fault. Sentient talking pet is horrible though. That said, I was more impressed back then with the 3DO version that they bothered to have all that amount of speech on a not-needed-to-have-speech-game back in the 90s, rather than the voice acting's quality myself.
  2. I'm not trying to be an ass, nor do I defy what you say. But visually, those US soldiers look to me more like they're wearing 5 cottom shirts one after the other, rather than wearing armor. Not saying they do, just saying what they look like to me. I don't know ... maybe I read too many a comic books or something ... but the armors and clothing look sci-fi realistic to me, especially when taking into consideration they are made by an unexistent material which isn't found on Earth. Gorlom: Yeah, that's exactly what I'm considering as far as the alloys go, some sort of vibranium or something. As for the female carrying smaller weapons ... can't say I noticed that. Not calling you a liar, I honestly didn't notice that. I'll check it out sometime. The only weapons which I admit that they are ridiculously huge are the heavy's loadouts. Seriously, the heavy plasma is about as tall as your soldier. Don't really mind it though, like I didn't really mind the power suit, even though it looked silly. Look, in all fairness, silliness and campiness was always a big part of X-COM. Remember the starter suits in APOC? They looked like something out of a Power Ranger episode.
  3. Sorry, but that's bull. Male soldiers look a lot bulky because of their suits. Check them out in the gym when they exercise, next to female agents. They look totally normal to me. Unless he looks like 400 lbs to you.
  4. Seriously? This doesn't look protective? As for the hollow plastic, they do mention it's made out of alien alloys, which is a substance that may as well *look* like hollow plastic ... unless you have actually seen alien alloys up close. I sure as heck haven't. As for realism, I'm pretty sure I couldn't even walk if I wore this ... http://ufopaedia.xcomufo.com/images/powersuit.gif ... but I'm not going to convince you, since you are obviously positive in your views.
  5. I want to keep a save where I have researched everything and I just sit there, shooting down UFOs and sending my teams. I do this just to enjoy the tactical part of the game at full ability. Just like I sometimes take out my Mortal Kombat and play for a few days as one specific fighter, while basically playing another game as my "to beat" title (i.e. Resident Evil 6) using my Mortal Kombat as a "take a break" game, I want to do this with X-COM games as well.
  6. I ... couldn't disagree more. The UFO Defence sectoid looks like an albino kid you want to kick from here to Yorkshire. The Enemy Unknown sectoid looks like something sick (physically ill), yet disturbing at the same time. You're not sure whether you must pity it, or slowly raise your hands in self-defence. Every enemy design in Enemy Unknown is superior to UFO Defence, in my opinion always. Floaters and Mutons look flat out silly in todays standards, while the new ones are menacing, albeit more merchandising. And in terms of visuals and gameplay, the old Sectopod can't blow a candle to the new one. The power suit of the original was, is, and will always be one of the stupidest things I ever saw. The o_O eye visors are flat out ridiculous, even though I must admit it looks more realistic in a way that says "We had to make this asap to protect our soldiers, we have no time for aesthetics", while the new armors are supreme badass, Halo / Mass Effect hybrids that while totally awesome, gives you the impression that the research team probably had a costume designer or two. It's all about taste. There isn't anything in the original, in my opinion again, in terms of design that surpasses the new game. And it shouldn't have, considering it's a predecessor. Soldiers look more realistic, and while various body types *should* exist, that doesn't mean that the male and female body of Enemy Unknown defy the laws of biology as we know them. They're not cartoony, at least, no more cartoony than Skyrim or something.
  7. If it does, it'll be the only mod I'll download in my life.
  8. As long as an alien race looks like a monster from the D&D game except that it's dressed in mecha armor and carries laser rifles, I'm happy. Oh, and the zerg too.
  9. Oh my God. OH MY FREAKIN' GOD!! THEY MADE IT?!?!?!?! THEY ACTUALLY MADE IT!>??!!!??!?! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
  10. In grand X-COM UFO Defence tradition, will Xenonauts be able to "go on forever", as long as the player wishes, postponing the final mission / act of the game?
  11. You mean through the downloaded-purchased alpha build? Haven't bought it yet.
