  1. It is in part thanks to the console X-COM EU, that I was made aware of Xenonauts. After I saw that Xcom was coming out I did a little dance, then I saw it was turn based strategy and danced some more. After my spontaneous bout of jigging, I ran to my laptop to see if I could get my hands on a copy of UFO EU, and TFTD. As my XCOMian nerves were tingling. It was during this research that I happened across a reference to the upcoming project Xenonauts. I found the console game a great laugh, but missed the depth of the old games, feeling a somewhat linear story developing on the console (My favourite moments when playing through the original games was generally in my own head, reveling in the achievements of my squads, and giving stories to the members), One premium preorder of Xenonauts later I am a happier man, as the work the team here is doing is astounding and filling me full of joy. I enjoy both games, I know Xenonauts will dominate my time more thoroughly however. I thank Firaxis for incensing me to find Xenonauts. And I hope that more people will find Xenonauts because of the console game release. As I personally think that you can never, ever spend too much money in the name of planetary defence.
  2. I have one that I think was a surprise mission, It certainly rewards me with negative billions of points upon playing the save game. I'm not sure how to send it to you, I'm not overly savvy with computers, attachments doesn't seem to do anything. I have the save with the last alien standing. One shot should take him out.
  3. Thanks Gorlom, all the hard work you guys are doing is fantastic. Pistol whipping extra terrestrials will have to suffice then ^__^
  4. How about the poor medics, all this talk about purple hearts, what about the guy who patches em up? Lol Field Medic ribbon- Healing 3 separate wounds Field Surgeon ribbon- Attending a critically wounded Xenonaut *A well named medal*- Multiple healing of severe casualties and uses of the medikit. It would be nice to have medals for the pilots if medals are instituted, as I have lost so many more pilots than squad members already, poor little guys. (It took me a while to realize you could send out multiple interceptors, d'oh) For that matter it would be nice to see a pilot sitting in the chinook! Or have one of the squad members start in the pilot seat. (Off topic)
  5. I know the original X-com didn't have melee weapons, and with reaction fire it would be a difficult way to play the game. But I long to be able to give a character a samurai sword, a power axe or even a modded chainsaw when getting in close to the alien menace. Mostly in the interest of giving my characters a sense of individualism and grittiness. On the matter of individualism, I love the way the characters stats build as you play, as with the X-com game of yesteryear. But I have long since been in love with the perk system of fallout and it's subsequent games. Not saying that you should use that exactly, but named traits and unlocked skills that give minor bonuses to certain functions would be great (e.g. a Xenonaut who kills 20 aliens with grenades gains the Shrapnel happy trait, adding an extra square radius with thrown grenades), mayhaps a little superfluous, but would serve to add flavour to each character in your squads. Anyway, shaping up to be a game that will destroy all of my free time, so big love to ya!
  6. Hi there, I have had ground missions pop up a couple of times, without sending out troops or an interceptor. At the conclusion of these missions my computer crashes hardcore, just after the mission spec page in which you get your score and troop upgrades. Hitting load autosave, I was happy to find I could finish the mission... however I noticed that instead of receiving the 100 points for securing alien craft, upon again completing the mission. I received negative billions of points instead, resulting in a terrible mission outcome. Which made me sad, as I eviscerated all the baddies without a scratch.
