  1. What about capturing the command center sets all the remaining aliens to aggressive such that they attack the command center. I guess the one problem with this would be aliens who are trapped somewhere.
  2. haha, it would be funny (albeit time-consuming) to exploit this to wipe out the aliens in one turn
  3. I'm on ironman. I moved a guy, using all but 11 TUs. Then I quit the game and loaded the save. The guy is where I left him after his movement, but now he has all his TUs back and can move again.
  4. I'm finding that the aliens don't really put up much of a fight. The only times aliens shoot at me are (1) reaction fire and (2) if my guy is only a few tiles away, such as if we're both inside a scout. Other than that, the aliens will not shoot at me. This is most obvious when I have a shield advance, he takes reaction fire from an alien, and then the shield guy just sits still turn after turn while my snipers blast the alien from a distance. While the alien can clearly see my shield and will shoot if RF is triggered, on the alien turn the alien will simply sit there. Instead of shooting, the other thing aliens will do on their turn is run back and forth between two cover points. This does nothing but trigger reaction fire from my men, allowing me to win simply through the passage of time. I also don't think aliens are targeting civilians the same way anymore. I've done two terror missions and had 1 or no civilian casualties. I've also come across situations where I explore the map and find an alien and civilian right next to each other. Then on the alien turn the alien will blast and kill the civilian, but clearly up until this point he had ignored the guy.
  5. Had the same thing happen. Sorry if the below image is poor quality as print screen does not work with xenonauts for me (it copies the desktop view, not the game).
  6. In 2 of about 8 ufo recovery missions on v8 (1 light scout, 1 scout), I've scouted the whole map and killed all the aliens I could find, but don't get a victory screen. I end up winning by securing the ufo for 5 rounds, and then the victory screen shows 1 alien escaped. I assume he spawned in the middle of some hill or somewhere (I still see occasional aliens spawning in objects like tables, etc). I'm playing ironman so don't have a save game. Will load it if it happens again.
  7. I just jumped from v19 stable to 20.7 (veteran--will be going down to normal next time) I'm not a fan of the re-arming taking place after re-fueling. Here is what I'm running into... I have a condor and foxtrot (two other condors shot down at the moment). I send both out after a scout. Both empty their full payload into the scout, but they have to retreat because scout only at ~80 damage (the retreat also requires me to use the foxtrot to lead the scout around long enough for the slow condor to get away). The squadron returns to base. Now if I want to send the foxtrot out to finish off the scout, I have to wait for it to fully refuel and then fully rearm. Why can't the rearm happen simultaneous to the refueling, so that I can launch my foxtrot again when it has enough fuel to reach the scout?
  8. I agree it would be more interesting if the local forces were (either generally or occasionally) stronger such that they played a bigger factor in battles. Right now, 99% of the time they are not much more of an impact than civilians, especially since the aliens get the first turn and generally slaughter/suppress most of them. There are a number of ways they can be buffed, imo. - better stats - more aggressive AI - greater chance of being spawned together and/or in an area without aliens, such that they survive the first round. Maybe this can even be dependent on the type of local forces. E.g., troops in a terror mission tend to all start together in a corner of the map, whereas local farmers with shotguns are more randomly placed One of my most memorable experiences with local forces was a downed ufo recovery where every round's hidden movement featured lots of ballistic fire and alien shrieks of pain. As I got near the ufo, I found one dead alien, one suppressed alien, and three local forces behind a wall. As for civilians, I think you overestimate how well people respond to finding their grocery trips turned into shootouts. People do all sorts of odd things when they panic, and frequently their actions put them in greater danger.
  9. Here's a screenshot of this phenomenon. Alien was not killed by me. Cursor over alien shows that it is not treated as living by the game.
  10. Just had this happen on 16.1. Farm map. Invisible NPC moves next to a wall and then game crashes. Windows 7
