It's awesome to see both of these games looking so good, in 2012! Seeing these two games existing simultaneously almost brings a tear to my eye!
Xcom: EU looks sharp, their destruction tech looks nice and the fluidity of the tactical gameplay almost defies its own genre, in a good way. It's the flashy american blockbuster of Turn Based Strategy. Still seems to have a ton of tactical depth to it, feels like streamlining done right for once.
While Xenonauts, very smartly and fortunately(for its style ot tactical gameplay), stuck with a 2d throwback artstyle rendered in glorious high resolution. I just love high resolution sprites! For some reason the neatness of the grid and the ease of getting an overview thanks to the clean graphics of Xenonauts I feel really enhances the very deep and detailed tactical feel of the game. Xenonauts would in no way have been a better game in 3d. Love what you have done with the classless and weight based inventory system too.
Same seed, spawning two very distinctly different games like this is really interesting to see.
Can't wait to get my hands on EU and the next version of Xenonauts... current version for me seems to just keep killing my saves after a while. But that's what happens in development, things break and go bad before they get awesome! Really looking forward to seeing some of the worst offenders get squashed in beta.(such as multiple air battles happening at the same time, and save corruption)
A big pat on the back of the devs, this game is looking very sharp, keep it up!
Have a good one all,
Tommy
