I agree. I suggested this to Chris, but he's a firm believer of function before flair, and is afraid that making night missions more moody affects gameplay to much.
Here's my thread about it:

An idea from X-Com: Terror from The Deep is Ship missions. We already fight the Cleaners in dockyards so it is safe to assume they move equipment and personnel around using ships. So maybe Xenonauts' intel finds a particular ship is moving Cleaner equipment around and it is your job to take them down. It could be a fairly large ship carrying containers, lots of small rooms to check, civilians to save. For anyone who actually played Terror from The Deep you know that was a gigantic nightmare of a mission.
Adding a completely new ship biome / tileset would be a huge undertaking which is not happening, I'm pretty sure.

Hmmm. It's unlikely we'll end up fixing this to be honest; it's not going to be at all straightforward to change ownership of an aircraft and a dozen soldiers and all their equipment while they're not even at the base that owns them, and this scenario seems like a pretty rare occurrence anyway.
Yeah, I expected as much... it's probably something less than 0.1% of players will ever experience anyways.

Sure, you're welcome to look over the Finnish names. However I can barely tell the difference between the flag you linked and what's displayed in the game. If you want to find a set of replacement 64x64px pngs that accurately depict every flag in the world then I'm happy to update them - here's an example of the finnish flag to show you the actual format of the images.
Yeah, thanks. I'll check the names and here's the correct flag:

Yeah, who would recover the bodies from the depths of the Cleaner HQ if everyone died?

...and really, that "Finnish" flag you have in game is hideous. Pls fix it.

@Chris, if you want, you can send me your name list and I can check it through.

Hmm, Lero isn't a finnish name at all. I suppose it should probably be Eero?

What a great list of good points.

I had all but 4 wounded soldiers in my Skyhawk on the way to a Cleaner Cell mission when aliens attacked the HQ. I lost the base defend mission with my 4 wounded rookies left there. When I returned to the Geoscape, my Skyhawk and all my elite soldiers along with their equipment in it vanished in thin air. Soldiers were added in the casualty list and the final mission was reported to be their last completed terror mission they were on a bit earlier.
So in a situation like this, it would be good to be able to reroute the Skywawk to one of my other bases with empty hangars. It would have been epic to try to survive and push through such a grim situation, but losing all my soldiers and equipment was a bit too much and I needed to restart the campaign. Also, soldiers killed while in Skyhawk should be marked as killed in transfer/international waters maybe?
Edit: hmmm, i didn't have living space in my other bases, so maybe the situation just wasn't survivable. *shrug*

Why not? Your starting soldiers have 80% accuracy with rifles IIRC.
Cleaners are hard countered by grenades/HEVY's (which will often instakill them) behind cover, snipers at distance and shotty's up close. If you wipe them before they can shoot back, they're not really a threat. This is very doable in the intermediate Cleaner missions if you have a Dragonfly and split into 3 groups of 4 so you can gang up on them 4-on-1 at a time. Having even defender armor means they almost certainly won't one-shot you either.
Worst case scenario, smoke grenades are a thing too.
Well, you don't need to teach your father how to fuck: I know very well how to play Xenonauts. What I mean is that they are the MOST accurate enemy in the game along with wraiths; and contrary to them, Cleaners are the enemy type you fight against almost instantly when the game starts. And that's just not in any way an optimal way to introduce your game to new players. And for the more experienced players, you also need to take into account the difficulty modifier (veteran +120%) which again, make them incredibly accurate enemies to fight against on the second mission of the game.

Cleaner's accuracy needs to be decreased from the ~70 down to maybe 50-55. There's no point having a starter enemy be so accurate.

At the very beginning of the game, when clicking "PLACE BASE" for the starter base, the click is sticky and you'll place the base immediately with the same click and naming dialog appears. The same issue repeats when building subsequent bases: when clicking "BUILD BASE" at the top right corner of the Geoscape, the game immediately tries to place the base and says that "Bases must be build on land" (as the cursor is outside of the map).

You flatter yourself; I have no idea who you are, and care even less. No, I'm not from Russia and, to be honest, I don't care about what is happening in Ukraine. We should keep our noses out of other countries' business; I'm tired of paying for Ukraine's defence.
I'm not a person who often talks polticics and I'm pretty neutral on many subjects, but this is not about money or about paying for anyone's defence. It's about standing beside the weaker and against the bully. It's about a world order where being bigger, wealthier and stronger is no reason to invade a smaller, poorer and weaker. It's about the priviledged always supporting the disadvantaged in every area of life - no matter how big or small the cause. I personally do it, and IMO everybody should. Turning your back when you see something bad happening is not the way to make this planet a better place.
If I was homeless, hungry or poor, I would hope people gave me shelter, food or money
If I was bullied in school, I would hope teachers or older students stood against the bullies.
And if my country was attacked by a criminal terrorist country, I sure as hell would hope all friendy, civilized nations around the world rushed to help.

Well that's a proper bug you should report in the bug forum.

Silence is golden: fade bg music away for loading screens. Have a bit of silence in strategy view from time to time. Constant music tires ears no matter how nice the soundtrack is.
Tactical mission ending would benefit from a small victory/defeat jingles.- 2
