  1. I am guessing it is intended, the in-battle save feature made early X-com games a walk in the park even at the highest difficulty just by saving after every action. Though it might be as resonansER said, it might just be an temporary alpha "feature" or they just have been too pre-occupied to add it in yet.
  2. Hmm you should probably include a little more info. Are you loading a pre-12.1 save file? Are you loading on geoscape with a crashed ship on the map? Most of the CTD's have been fixed so far and I haven't encountered a loading crash yet.
  3. I also had a memory dump error after I transferred alenium missiles to two different bases and then equipped them to my F-17's, when I hit exit to go back to geoscape the game seemed to freeze, when I alt tabbed I had the same memory dump message. Edit: Tried adding the attachment with the memory dump file, but the attachment button just sends me to a 404 page.
  4. I seem to always find severely damaged UFO's when I send out 2-3 F-17's and fire 3+ missiles and finish with the machine gun. From my experience if I send 2 F-17's and fire 2 missiles then finish it off with the machine guns, it almost always crashes while taking minor damage.
  5. Keep in mind it might just be a display error for the % chance, I had the same happen and my shots were more or less the same as they would be normally. Still a bug though, but much less annoying than the CTD bugs hehe.
  6. It appears that every severely damaged* scout that is shot down, shows an undamaged power source in the back compartment when it should be showing a destroyed version. At first I thought that I was just lucky and they were intact but they were not showing up on the research screen, finally found a minor-damaged scout and captured an intact power source, so it appears that the source is just incorrectly being shown as undamaged when it should be destroyed. Edit: Accidentally a word.
  7. Alright, finally found a downed scout with minor damage and finally captured a power source. It seems that the power sources are appearing undamaged in severely damaged scouts when they should be showing the destroyed/damaged sources instead.
  8. I am not sure if I should move this to the bug report forum just yet as I am not sure which bug it is, so far I have shot down multiple scouts and found multiple power sources intact (or at least look like they are intact) and yet the score screen does not show them as being captured and they do not show up in the research tab even after having researched the Alien pistol/rifle/grenade/alloys/corpses/etc. Has anyone managed to capture and research a power source yet in V12.1?
  9. Hehe I think that was mentioned before in the FAQ, they don't have any current plans on making a mode where you can play as the aliens as they think it would be far too easy. I think it would make a great post-game option though, have a base of surviving aliens to start off with and have to rebuild your forces and launch attacks on a fully upgraded X-com protected earth, multiple bases across the globe to take down or cities to destroy/pillage for resources/human abduction. Maybe someone can mod it in later, but it would be pretty fun, at least how I am imagining it.
  10. New here as well, my pre-order medal still isn't showing up though, even though I did the Desura-connect thing..odd. I agree, I have played quite a few of the clones/"successors" and this is the only one so far that actually captures much of the feeling of the first one. I can't wait until it is finished
  11. I have had that bug quite a bit and it is very frustrating, I think it tends to happen whenever you hit an enemy in darkness or when your chance to hit % is not visible, you can still kill them via rocket/grenade as a temp workaround. Save the game whenever no UFO/Crash/Aircraft are on the geoscape and make sure not to save or load any that DO have them on the geoscape or else it crashes. Most of the CTD are avoidable and repeatable, just make sure to keep an eye on the % to hit on your shots and if it is not visible, lob a grenade at them. That being said, I hope the main CTD bugs can be fixed next patch so we can get further in the testing phase.
  12. First post, so I found this by accident but it appears to be repeatable. 1. Select a soldier to move the maximum possible distance he is able. 2. Before he reaches the end, hit C to make him crouch and it should make a constant walking sound. At first I thought it caused a permanent walking sound, but if you un-crouch within the same turn it stops the sound (as the first time it happened, it went all the way through until the end of the battle). After a little more testing it seems that you can move that same soldier in the following turns and it will stop the sound as well. Another test also shows that it stacks, so you can have multiple soldiers move and then crouch and you will have the sound of multiple soldiers walking, until you move them again. (it can be pretty overpowering when you have a 10 soldiers all walking at once ) Bug: Constant walking sound if you crouch while soldier is walking to a destination Workaround: Move the soldier/un-crouch during any turn, or simply avoid it by crouching once you reach the destination.
