  1. Thats what I meant People just come out of nowhere to say that this game is abomination without giving actual reasons for it.
  2. What are features that are removed in XCOM EU again? I mean, people are mainly complaining about inventory system so I'm actually forgetting what else there was besides TU.
  3. Assaulting the alien's base Anyway, video got taken down, apparently they hacked preview build or something(which makes sense since preview build is supposed to end when you discover alien base's location). I hope OXM or Edwin guy won't get into much trouble.
  4. Please note that overwatch shots through walls should be fixed in release version(or at least shortly afterwards in inevitable patches) according to devs on gamespot livestream so yeah, that is old news Anyway, I find it interesting that "Aliens get free move to move to cover" thing apparently only happens if they see you same time you see them, so you can actually catch them off guard if they don't see you when you see them. Also, 11 aliens killed is "terrible"? Darn, there have to be tons of aliens in that mission
  5. So anyway, I posted about this in another thread already, but since this one is more populated nowadays... SPOILERS DON'T WATCH IT IF YOU WANT TO RETAIN THE WONDERFUL FEELING OF SEEING NEW STUFF IN GAME WITHOUT KNOWING IT IN ADVANCE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuH6yRNDa3Q (It has alien base assault mission. So hopefully nobody will complain about them removing them again =P)
  6. Please don't complain about demo magic in that video (For example, its obvious that they have been set when they hit and when not, they make too many improbably 28% shots. Secondly, there is "Rookie got promoted" message, but rookies don't yet have classes, so.... Yeah, they are rookies that have been edited to have class and class abilities)
  7. Mainly from watching preview videos. Enemies don't stand around waiting you to come to them, difficulty isn't always set on easy, tutorial isn't mandatory and base has lots more options available.
  8. Oh, ok, my bad. Anyway, Tier 3 is officially unlocked now so you'll now get Civ 5 for pre ordering game from steam. Edit: FINALLY. (SPOILERS: There is video of alien base assault mission so if anybody is gonna claim that its not in game I can finally prove them wrong with evidence that can't be misunderstood )
  9. Umm, so you didn't see any videos with base? Or did you mean other kinds of decisions and choices?
  10. I hate it when people post about their jumping into conclusion because they haven't bothered to search any info about the game(note: I'm talking about this phenomena in general and not just relating to this one). Thats just like how some people comment about Xenonauts being XCOM Clone without anything new. You get intact weapons by stunning enemies, they have some sort of self destruct system where if alien dies weapons blows up. Also, you have much more decision and control in the actual game. But since nobody who comments on that checks the darn videos...
  11. I know Its just my nature to be exact or at least try to be
  12. Actually, it would allow you to choose which country you get funding from and which country has satellite coverage in beginning. Putting it outside funding countries would however be pointless.
  13. Eh, XCOM: EU has mainly simplified micromanaging required parts like removing TU and doing the two action thing, Civ 5 got rid of mechanics like spies and religion(which got added in dlc expansion, but they apparently still work differently from older games so old fans are still angry) and such so I wouldn't really say its exactly the same. But yeah, otherwise yeah
  14. I've played Civ 2(great game even if its not one of my favourite games ever, I prefer Alpha Centauri to it), I have bought Civ 3 but not actually played it much. Civ 4 is apparently best of the series and Civ 5 is the one where they did things differently resulting in that lots of old fan base hates it while new fans love it and such. Though to be fair, I guess if Civ 4 really is that great, you can't one up from that so might as well mix up the format.
  15. Yeah, its at 91% now. What is? 9 more % for free Civ V that is.
  16. I personally am against any kind of "X thing needs to be always done with X way without ever trying anything else." Probably the reason I like concept of wiiremote despite preferring gamepad(its more nostalgic especially when playing certain kinds of games) in practice, I like the fact that someone tried to do different controllers. Besides, you get used to keyboard rather easily so I have no problem with it.
  17. From what I've noticed, only thing wrong with PC UI is that it utilizes keyboard(through hotkeys) more than mouse which results in that you need to get used to it, but once you get used to it its fluid. Anyway, you could download demo editor one guy did I guess but I'm not sure if it allows you to skip it without haxing.(it does allow you to edit difficulty, units and aliens though)
  18. Sequel to UFO: Extraterrestrials that was rather crappy XCOM clone with such features as units you can revive from death. Then some guy called Brian or something modded game to be identical to original mechanics wise and was made to be part of the team.
  19. Both of those are on Classic(which is in difficulty supposed to be close to original game) Ironman and both involve player losing because of making mistakes that cause everything to fall apart.(in first video accidentally not using medic to heal poisoned unit and accidentally shooting with pistol instead of sniper and in second video... Well, that one went much worse, total party kill without any aliens dead. I guess his mistake was trying to do what caused total party kill for me while go in original XCOM? Aka, trying to kill enemy with low improbability shots while enemies are more accurate than you?(seriously, its annoying how autoshot in original can miss fricking cyberdiscs It worked rather reliably for earlier, but then my 14 man squad got killed on terror mission because everyone kept missing sectoids and cyberdiscs... Should probably have went closer to shoot them) And yeah, demo is set on easy, just decided to post evidence
  20. Maybe they decided to go retro with four angle camera? I mean, old games with grid that used to have camera rotation had only four angles because of limitations.
  21. From what I've seen, mission types are following: UFO Crash site mission, UFO Landing mission, VIP Escort Mission(which might be council request only, but I'm not sure), Bomb Defusing Mission, Terror Mission and Abduction mission(which's goal is to kill all aliens(in order to prevent them from abducting civilians), so its kind of like ufo missions without ufos or terror missions without civilians. I guess they replace ufo crash missions from original as most common mission type? I'm not really sure). Oh and alien base missions are in too even though people are asking about them a lot, there are evidence about them being in. There seem to be "priority" missions like (MINOR SPOILERS: Don't read if you don't want to know anything) stunning an outsider(why? Spoilers: They apparently somehow help finding alien base.) which you need to do if you want to beat the game, but I don't know much about those, but I guess they fit into other mission types but with special objectives? Like stunning an outsider takes place in UFO mission.
  22. It seems that they would like to, but it won't be at launch at least. But then again, its not like Skyrim had mod support at beginning, yet fans had done tons of mods already. So yeah, mods will be done even if mod support wouldn't ever come. Heck, they are already modding the demo. Oh hai, you are from Finland too? I'm little sad that EU has Swedish flag but not Finnish flag even though I'm not really patriotic, mainly because I'm not sure why Swedish is special enough from nordic countries to get flag in the game or if they just chose one randomly(since almost all nordic countries flag look the same but differently colored)
  23. Hmm, yeah, I imagine that even most hardcore fans who don't like Firaxis' take wouldn't mind playing game once someone inevitably(correct word?) does "Original Game mechanics" mod or something like that
  24. Huh, interesting. Someone mined from demo files that game has... Umm... What are those customized "settings" from Civilization games called? You know, the ones you can set when you begin the game to make it different somehow or even harder? For example, XCOM has setting that causes each country have randomized amount of funding instead of fixed and one setting that makes game "longer", whatever that means (and by that, I mean how much longer and how it does it) Dunno if those have to be unlocked or if they aren't available in preview build, but interesting. Sounds like that will add more replayability. Oh and watching videos of previews in classic difficulty, it does seem to be as hard as original.
