  1. None of our artists are as backward as to use pen and paper, I'm afraid. For the small talk stuff, it's an interesting idea but I'm loathe to make promises about a game system that has not been implemented (we might decide to cut it, for example). It'd also be a tough sell. Anyway, I'm signing off for the night. It's been a long day and all the excitement has tired me out.
  2. The equipment etc is all already named and I'd rather not "sell out" to that extent, I think. So these are the ideas I think may be viable: - Pilot names (these would be shown as part of the "background information" for aircraft, quite a low reward tier) - Aircraft decals that can be designed and applied to planes to make them more individual - Billboards etc in the city maps, showing products - "Goldhawk Groceries" or something. - Events text - "Local mayor Chubby McChubb abducted, 8 local law enforcement officers killed in firefight" etc. Problem is, I can't see them being much more popular than the portraits. Maybe I'll see if one of our other artists can match the style of the other guy.
  3. Being drawn in the background is a bit of a no-no, I think. I worry that would be a bit too obvious.
  4. Hmmm. The billboards / signs etc idea is a good one. I think we could use that. It's not incredibly difficult to do, but it could be pretty cool. Yes, we could do little decals for the aircraft that people can put on the wings etc. There'd be an unlimited number of those, because they'd only appear on the Aircraft Equip screen and would essentially be non-compulsory unless people wanted to put them on, when they could choose from all the available ones. They'd also be useful in the sense that they could be used to set the aircraft apart from one another at a glance. Although we'd have to look up the feasibility of applying the decal to all 6 different interceptors...
  5. Or maybe Firaxis will invite me over and beat me up! Wow. This is all going well, isn't it? Nearly $25,000 in one day.
  6. Yes. You can add light sources to props in the tile editor already, although it's not something I've done (although I should have, now I think about it). The light has no effect during the day, so the lampposts would just be props during the day but actually at night they would be something far more important.
  7. Cool. Well, we'll post up if we do decide to buy a booth or enter PAX 10!
  8. Hmm, those FS bullet animations are sexy. We'll look at the firing animations again in beta, probably - it may actually be that no projectile is needed at all for the kinetic projectiles. Just a little puff of dust showing where it hits. But in usability terms, it may mean that it's difficult to work out what happened. So overall it's probably something we'll just have to test out and see how it works and what looks best. Right now we're concentrating on getting the unfinished stuff done, and then we can think about making the existing stuff look nicer etc.
  9. OK, so if anyone has been watching the Kickstarter, you'll notice a major anomaly in the pledges - the $200 pledge point is unbelievably popular, while nobody gives a damn about the more expensive stuff or really in the $100-$199 region, either. This presents us with a problem. The artist who does the portraits only has so much time as he works with us around a job (and he doesn't want to leave his job), so we can't just throw open the floor to more people contributing $200. I think he'll be at full capacity doing the 100 portraits that are possible if people buy the full number of limited tiers. This is especially true if we add female soldiers. This is a potential stretch goal, but I'd have to discuss it with the artist. So - I'm open to suggestions on what can be an alternative reward in and around the $200 mark. And if there's a $350 reward we can add somehow (preferably without the portrait), then I'm open for ideas for that too...
  10. If we do port it, it'll just be a question of bundling it with a wrapper. Hopefully it won't be anything too difficult or time-consuming to do, but we'll see. Someone is looking into it at the moment.
  11. It does seem to be going rather well, doesn't it? It's very exciting.
  12. It's not finished, it is indeed placeholder art that will be updated when we do the UI.
  13. Most techs do have a new item or bonus associated with them, and all of them are either stepping stones (in which case they are used for narrative explanation) or provide something new to build. The real problem were the utterly pointless ones in X-Com like Alien Entertainment.
  14. Thanks Sterfield, that's appreciated. @Moonie, sshhhh
  15. I've upvoted it. I also backed up the website last night so hopefully there won't be as much carnage as last time. If other people can upvoted it or post other threads (preferably mentioning the demo, or perhaps a humourous mention of Reddit melting our site last time) then maybe one will go big?
  16. Maybe, thanks for the heads-up. I was just about to apply for the PAX 10 thing but they want $50 for the priviledge of entering your game to possibly get free coverage (no guarantees though). How indie-friendly of them.... It's not that I can't afford $50, but the principle annoys me.
  17. XenoNUT, yes, it does. For Kicking it Forwards, I'm undecided. I like the idea, but then most of the projects it is applied to are funded entirely from Kickstarter. At present we've still got by far the majority of our money from pre-order funding so perhaps I'll do Kicking it Forward when / if the Kickstarter exceeds the funding raised from existing pre-orders?
  18. Yes, but most KS users are US based so we'll probably have the T-shirts etc produced in the US rather than produced over here and then shipped to the US.
  19. Flashman - I don't know yet. Likely yes, but not 100% confirmed yet. Any other non-US country, international shipping applies though.
  20. Yes, people won't be able to remove them. I'm just about to add the FAQ to the project which will contain all the details.
  21. Obviously if people want to retweet my messages (@GoldhawkInt) or do facebook likes for the project etc, or create / upvote Reddit stuff etc that would be great. If you do create Reddit threads etc then post them up on the forums so everyone else can pile in and "Like" it so we can get it trending. Or something. I'm not great with social media...
  22. Haha I was wondering who had done that - well done!
