  1. the avalanch alone is enough to destroy a scout. keep trying with 2 f17s,...oh.. if its in the actual battle where they cant catch the ufo just turn on your afterburners. never had a scout outrun a f17 in battle with the afterburners on. a scout shouldnt run from 2 f17s anyway.
  2. scouts leave crash sites. you must be destroying them. use 2 f17s and only 3 missiles, this will crash a scout. fighters never leave crash sites. zoom in on the battle so you can see whats going on.

My opinion- in the original x-com i remember several times in the game where things seemed to be going great, ground battles were fairly easy to overcome, air superiority was going well. it would start to get a bit booring. then the aliens would show up with something totally unexpected, new ground troops/larger faster ships, and it would put me in a bit of a pickle. Wasnt booring anymore! then i had to scramble with everything i had to change my equipment and tactics to get a handle on things again. thats what makes these games great i think. just becouse the corvett shows up and you dont already have the aircraft to easily beat it in air combat doesnt meen you lose the game! it meens you better figure out how to beat it, and in a hurry. having to skip a couple corvett battles while you gain the tech. or buy the mig or whatever is needed in that circumstance will actually bring you deeper into the game. it will also effect your nation rating. i wouldnt be very happy if this game was totally layed out on a platter for us. it should take some tactical planning, deff. shouldnt be a cake walk. thats what keeps it interesting. make it so we never know whats going to come the next time the sun comes up. just my 2 cents worth.
  4. by mid august i needed 6 hangers not just 4. lol and that wasnt really enough but i managed with 6. im sure when the air combat is more ballanced it will change tho. when you have to start sending your dropship out with escorts you have to have at leaste 5 hangers or you have to wait for your intercepters to refuel after a battle.
  5. and i had done no intercepts. thats why i thought the first one must have been a base invasion.
  6. the 3 ground battles i did were instantanious. pop out of one and right back into the next. no geoscape inbetween.

Also to the people that think the base should already have the Mig at the start becouse they should have the best tech. already. they wouldnt have needed it so far,it is completely useless at the beginning so why would they even have it? Truth be said it shouldnt even be an option untill radar has spotted its first corvett.
  8. i dont know why but i just read your post, then looked at your monkey and started bustin-a-gut laughing. almost like your monkey said "I give up" Weird!
  9. at this stage in development you still have that option by abandoning then selecting patrol for the dropship but you need to watch the fuel. best bet rite now is to time the mission, dont send the drop ship until it will be daytime when it gets there. also after you start getting a lot of fighter ufos on the map it wont be a good idea to hang around much even if you send your drop ship with escorts.
  10. that is possible for me but i dont think i was. i only used debug mode one time and cant say for sure if this was or wasnt that time.
  11. as far as i know there have only been 3 no move bugs reported so far. trying to jump fence bug. pathing thru door bug. crouching bug. if yours dont deal with one of these three i would say its a new one. try giving as much info as you can about it- can they R-click turn? how boxed in are they?have you moved other soldiers away from them? check your weight. are they overloaded? do you know about the weapon weight doubling on return bug? check how many available AP they have.
  12. i think this has been discussed before and something they are planning to look at in other updates. dont think anything other than changing your resolution is available yet. mabye someone else has a better/more informative answer for you tho.
  13. yea i had this happen once also. cant remember the circumstances leading up to it very well though.[when i saved, what type of ufo started the loop.] but i had 3 ground battles auto start with no geoscape icon preasant. first one i thought must have been a base invasion but turned out it was just a normal industrial map. i played thru all three but afterward it was like the whole game was corrupted, started having many bugs happen one after the other such as the no fighter ufo sprite bug and so on. sorry i dont have more info on this but it was before i even joined in the forums.

  15. this ground battle had both pistol and rifle but it said it sold the rifle and kept the pistol, yet from this single ground battle i was able to research both the pistol and rifle. so this was a display bug.
  16. yellow meens out of range but ready to fire. green meens in range and ready to fire. red meens will not fire. i think thats rite. heh remember to figure out how each missile/aircraft is used best and how many of what type weapon it takes to bring down ufos without destroying them. you will need to know this when you start fighting 3 at a time. lol
  17. to get a better understanding of the damage your weapons do zoom in so you can see the ufo damage as it happens, will help when you start fighting corvetts. never use a MIG for scouts if you can help it, no roll and the weapons are far to strong.
  18. if you need to make close turns turn off your afterburners. typical scout battle- send 2 F-17s click both afterburners and make all weapons yellow but one missile,make it red. keep a finger on the space bar and watch for the ufo to fire, if it does hit the space bare and roll your planes. as soon as the three missiles hit the scout you have won the battle, usually with no damage to your planes.

  20. this has been brought up many times Nutbar. there is a current thread in the bug report index i suggest you check it out.
  21. as do i. it just seemed to me that you were ripping up on the people that were trying to overall help out. and i can understand losing patients if you came into this thinking it was near release, but this is just not the case. the xenonauts team are working very hard to get to beta and doing a good job of it. many games go for a month or up to 6 months between updates but if you look back at the update dates for xenonauts its been 2 days,5 days, 7 days, and so on. the time between release of v9 and this next update coming soon was effected badly by some serious problems such as website hack and the AI coder, both of which were taken care of as quickly as possible. my best advice to everyone is to have patience, play each update for a while and help in the forums if you can. it will come!

  23. lol. i just involantarily watched a short movie in my head involving a xenonauts team entering a ufo research vessel only to find someone strapped to a birthing chair..um.. with a sea cucumber..umm..and a squeeze tube of KY jellyfish laying on the floor! Make it stop! OH! the HORROR!!
