  1. It made sense to me. The less that government felt you were doing to protect it, the more it would fund it's own defence (most likely unsuccessfully).
  2. Was playing a lot over the weekend, and I couldn't figure out why I could not pay my wages. Eventaully I figured that I can get the info I wanted by looking at the Base summary for each of my main bases. This was a bit of a chore, all told, but at lest the info was there. I still feel that a onepager, detailing expenses for the all bases would be needed to avoid the "can't pay wages" thing.
  3. Couldn't you play it in a window? I know it's not ideal, but at least it'd be playable. What were you playing, the 6014 demo?
  4. On a side note, the new base Layout is better than the old one. i like that the airstrips are consolidated at the edge of the map. Also, I know we had 3 runways to begin with because of the Mig. But now that we dont have it from the get go, woulnd't it make sense to remove one of the runways, leaving us with just 2 fighters? I tend to send my fighters out in pairs, so the 3rd is kinda superflu... supla... useless.
  5. Oooo..... Can anyone post these pics on here? Depsite being a 20 year dedicated gamer, I'm no modder or programmer, I'm an accountant. I wouldn't know how to see these.
  6. Nice, I'm looking forward to completing that terror mission now. Thanks Chris, You and Matt are doing good work.
  7. Also missed the boat on this. I only boarded the Kickstart train after it was mentioned here, and there was word that ther might be a Nexus: The Jupiter Incident 2 kickstarter comming in a few months.
  8. Yeah, the HD mod is being done by a lot of the same guys as 6014. Heres a link with more pics, It's looking sexy and new, but still faithfull to the originals. http://www.star-control.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=552 Word is that while 6014 is still at least 10 months from being done at the earliest, the HD mod could be complete in the next 90-12 days.
  9. If there are any fans of Star Control 2 on here, You might be interested to know that there is a couple of mods being made on "The Ur Quan Masters" code (the freeware code for the 1992 game). The first one in the HD mod, bringing the old game up to date with current graphics. Take a look at some of these: If you like that, the second mod is a fan made sequal... or expansion to the Starcon2 game. The below link is to the demo, which is already out. http://code.google.com/p/project6014/wiki/Downloads?tm=2 Here's a Vid. [video=youtube;lQBQYi88AAI]
  10. Yeah, Chris's one should have an alien with a crown on. To show he's da baws.
  11. Aahhh. Ok, that makes sense. It would be quite annoying going through a massive map looking for that one last alien from a scout. On the Terror site, I've not seen the whole thing. It seems pretty big, I like it, Not gotten further than the garage yet, cos either my guys are all dead or i have a lockup. But it's a very nice looking map! Kudos!
  12. Wait, are you describing a soldier going down, but not being dead? Does that happen?
  13. I dunno. I prefer 2 over 3. For me, 3 looks likes it's 2 words sperated by the alien head. Where as 2 doesn't seem to suffer the same thing. Perhaps it's just my own voting bias, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. Also, Chris, do you need to make this choice now? I mean, leaving this till after The Kickstarter launch and letting backers vote might incentivies people to participate. So maybe more $.
  14. Yeah, you're right. I've only just discovered the Kickstarter phenominon (on the back of this, and word of a Nexus: The Jupiter Incident 2 romour) and seen the success of Double fine, Wastelands and such. So I guess $150 would be a great deal of money for a first time dev... remembering that Bioware started with $100k back in the day. Chris seems to have his head screwed on right, and would err on the side of caution.
  15. Hmm... that might require more coding that it would actually be worth. The budget finance review page I'm suggesting already exists (in a form) in the game, and just needs summerising. Adding in line graphs and such could be asking too much. But a review per region of UFO activity is a fantastic idea. So, clicking on the USA (for example) will show the number of casualties and economic impact of the alien activify in that area.
  16. I dunno, we dont want to make it too.... cheesey. I'd prefer a simplistic T-shirt I can actually wear out of the house, that something over-engineered that looks good, at my desk. I hope that didn't come across as too nasty, but Chris's idea of simplistic and sparce, I think, is the way to go.
  17. First base in Greece, near Sparta. Covers Europe, Middle east, North africa, and the USSR. Second base, in Florida, US. Covers most of NA, all of Central America, and some of south America. Never got futher than that gos the game crashes in the "Hidden Movement" screen during missions. I image the next Base will be in North Australia, or South China, though.
  18. Yeah, But isn't that base specific? What I'm thinking is a total review of the finances. Which would makes sense since it's a performance review, so understanding of financial performance is kinda important. I suppose It's not essential, the game is about beating back an invasion of aliens, not turning a proffit. I just thought it would be a nice feature for those on harder difficulties to get an understanding of where all their money is going.
