  1. "Private! Spin around 20 times on the spot right now!" "Now sir? In the field? What if-" "No excuses, Private!" "Sir, yes, sir!" *Proceeds to spin*
  2. I don't think I'm a fan of not having more control over being able to save downed soldiers.
  3. This is rather important for me right now. So the mechanic is that any soldier with more than -20 HP has some hidden random chance of surviving?
  4. "What the heck is that? WHAT the HECK is THAT?!" My exact words when I saw the Reaper rushing into my line of soldiers for the first time. It stopped 2 squares away though.
  5. Seeing another month of no more countries withdrawing their funding.
  6. Exact same experience with OP. Was holding out until it went v1.0, started a game with the intention of "exploring" and ended up being unable to stop planning and thinking about the game. Had to abandon my current game through, lost two nations with too little funding to properly continue. Now planning my next game to right the wrongs I did before.
  7. Right, you are. I stand corrected. You just can't manipulate your inventory during the mission after the customisations made in base. I do appreciate the considerations for these streamlined design though.
  8. To be fair to XCOM: EU, you can turn the action cam off. As for new features, I kinda liked the abilities that promotions grant to each soldier to make them unique. Most soldiers in OG ended up being the generic super soldier in the end. The abilities serve to both offer fully realised tactical options as well as make each soldier unique. Though I have to admit, with the inventory removed completely, I would miss those moments where my soldiers had to toss magazines to each other when some of them ran out. Felt really realistic that way. Doing that reminds me of the Starship Trooper scene where they were defending a doomed outpost and were going "I'm out!" and tossing mags around saying "my last one, make it count!" That's why I've preordered both anyway.
  9. I've pre-ordered both. There's room in my XCOM heart for both flavours of saving the world from an alien invasion. I've tried the XCOM demo and it actually reaffirmed my pre-order. The atmosphere was just as tense and the streamlined TU system made it much easier for me to visualise and plan my squad's placement. I did miss being able to control where each soldier is facing though, it didn't look like I was able to change that in XCOM. All in all, I generally appreciate and understand the reasons behind the design changes made.
  10. I'm getting the same with gosse here: Also logged in on both.
