  1. I think I agree with you Ninothree. I assume NATO and USSR are pretty much allies out of necessity. historically the USSR was really good (unfortunately) at infiltration, sabatoge, and spreading misinformation. But I wasn't exactly thinking of an Alliance or Nation-state faction system. I was thinking more of agencies, ground forces, and whatnot, perhaps some private military orgs.
  2. This probably won't happen but I love the faction system in X-Com Apocalypse. Specifically, I liked that Megapol would fight UFOs as well, and that there was the Sirius cult which were sympathetic to the Aliens and openly caused problems for X-Com. I've always thought it was a bit unrealistic that Nation-States would not have their own plans in regards to alien invasion. There is an AI ally mod for XCOM 2 which I contributed the story to on Nexus. It's pretty darn neat. Basically remnant of national militaries formed a militia which both acts on their own, and in concert with XCOM. Part of this, admittedly, is my shear fascination with AI allies in games. (if any of this happens, it would be great for faction(s) to have their own technological progression so they don't become totally outgunned as the game progresses, such as a national or supranational non-Xenonaut military organization.) Further if there is something like "France wants to buy alien corpses to study" then this might effect non-Xenonaut technology in some way. I found the alien infiltration of the government % in X-Com apocalypse to be satisfyingly creepy and worrisome. That being said, I would like the Geoscape to be more streamlined and simpler. I remember in X1 around Israel or very close to Egypt was kind of the optimal place to put your first base. I'm hoping you guys can have some kind of gradation. As in there are pre-defined locations which you can choose from (preferably a good number) but with logic behind them. I didn't like having to worry about exact points of longitude and latitude. So far I haven't seen a date mentioned, but I hope it's not something like 2050 AD. A 1950's date, might be very very interesting. It's nice to have some tangible real world aesthetics in a game. Near and Far future settings are really over-saturated in games today. One of the things I liked about X1 was it was set in the past, not present.
  3. Is there an ETA on when 1.65 will be used for CE?
  4. Hi Chris (and the Dev Team). Could you guy us a very rough estimate of when EA will be purchasable? Obviously I would not hold you guys to it. But I am hoping you guys would be willing to give an estimate which is realistic in Goldhawk's opinion. Whenever I have money it has the tendency to burn a hole in my pocket. I wish I could purchase Xeno 2 from you guys right now. I don't mind not being able to play it. I just want to know I'll have it when it comes out.
  5. I'm willing to buy the game now (at a discount hopefully) without being able to play it. For once I am actually sitting on some money and while I have it I can buy X2.
  6. Is it possible to run CE and utilize workshop mods? Were I to make a mod, I'd want to put it on the workshop. But I also never run vanilla.
  7. Here is the save file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jjlb4m2sobwjd5u/breaching%20ship.sav?dl=0 It is CE .33. I can't half my squad gets killed and the other half panicks when trying to breach and clear the door.
  8. Thanks I'll take your advice and use it. In this particular skirmish, I have no shields or c4.
  9. Please check this image. http://i.imgur.com/Gk45xLe.jpg I only have one slightly wounded soldier in this map and I need to remove the aliens from their ship but I can't seem to do it without getting at least one soldier killed.
  10. I would like to have garrisons which are not useless. I know that originally it was possible to train your troops outside of combat. I think it is ridiculous that it was removed from the game, regardless of any potential problem of making the game 'too easy.' It's hard enough anyway. But it annoys me that an extremely logical thing to do, training your troops, cannot be done.
  11. Thanks Max. That explains why it didn't work!
  12. I don't know which file to edit so I can change the starting bravery range from 35-65 to 50-65. Can someone tell me?
  13. Okay i see that esc pauses it. But there is no independent pause option so I can see and move around on the geoscape map without time moving. Is there any mod which can do this?
  14. Where is the pause button in Geoscape??? Really? Please don't tell me I CAN'T pause it!
  15. How obsolete does technology become over time? It seems to me that small arms, firearms and rockets, shouldn't become too obsolete as in RL a breech loading rifle in 1880 and an M-16 in 1980 make you equally dead. Do you end up with all energy weapons at the end of the game or is it a mixture of energy weapons and conventional arms? Are there any mods which reduce obsolescence and if so, are they worth using? What about aircraft? Can Condors be used at the end of the game? Also, how are garrisons handled? I've been looking at youtube guides and reading forums to try to prepare myself to not get my butt kicked in Xenonauts. I assume garrisons have upkeep costs. Do garrisons get new technology as well?
  16. Does there exist any tutorials for modding? Preferably easy to understand and short but if length is necessary then it's fine. Is there a way to make sure I don't disrupt the game's balance if I change stats other than the lengthy process of playing Xenonauts until I figure it out?
  17. I see.... What exactly is wrong with the engine may I ask? I have been working with my C++ book today and I'm getting very discouraged. I have a laundry list of learning disabilities and psychological issues, lol.... >_____> It is very hard for me to memorize and understand the content of this book. I would love to help you code but I don't know if I am going to be successful in learning C++. At this rate my prospects are seem grim to me.
  18. I don't feel the need to replicate the soul of X-Com though. I like the base game but I also would like to change it. I understand your point about X-Com as compared to football. However, I am not viewing Xenonauts as a board game or sports game. My idea doesn't destroy Xenonauts. I'm not trying to make diehard X-Com fans angry I promise. I wish I was one. someday I should go play the original X-Com, but complicated games are very difficult for me. Xenonauts is much more complicated than football or a board game. Please don't shoot my proposals down because it isn't exactly X-Com. I'd like to also add that my ideas put forth here are inspired by X-Com, particularly the setting and theme, but not strictly the gameplay, though what I've said doesn't vastly change the game.
  19. Yes I know it is a successor to the original XCOM which Sadly I haven't played yet. Xenonauts is 20 years newer from X-Com from 1994. The coding is new and better. I don't know if my idea can actually be done or not. It may not be strictly within the spirit of X-COM 1994, but I think it is still very interesting. It could be added to A: make the game a bit easier for noobs, and B: it could have an option which causes an equal reduction in funding. In other words, A powerful nation which has it's own defense/research program against the aliens will pay you less. However, I think the latter would be much too difficult to balance. Additionally, I don't want the game to be easy, but it would be nice to have some small crutches here and there, especially ones like my idea which adds to immersion and is not merely a flat bonus of some kind. I love games but I'm bad at them lol.... Never have been good no matter how much I tried. Naturally I don't want to dumb Xenonauts down either.
