Can you provide a save game for this? I'm not really sure what the issue is and I don't think I've seen it reported elsewhere, so I think this might just be a UI issue maybe? You can't put fighters and dropships in the same squadron so you need to deselect the Dragonfly before you can select fighters from the list.
