When I launched the Skyranger to the crash site, the line on the screen went directly from the main base to the crash site. However, since that wasn't the shortest route that's not the path the Skyranger followed - it flew west from Greenland across the US, meaning the course line was dragged across the screen the long way as per the image: You can see that the Skyranger is flying west across the Pacific, but the line is running east towards the crash site.
